Navojoa Over Obregon 5-2

The Mayos opened the scoring with a single, a double and a sac fly to center by Jovan Rosa to plate Alonzo Harris for the early 1-0 lead.

With one out in the bottom of the 2nd for Navojoa, Fernando Flores doubled and scored on a double off the bat of Christian Zazueta. Zazueta stole third and Alejandro Gonzalez drew a walk. Harris singled to drive in Zazueta and give the Mayos a 3-0 lead.

Navojoa added two runs in the 4th. With 2 outs, Harris singled as did Elmer Reyes. Harris scored on a single by Victor Mendoza and Reyes came around on a double by Rosa for the 5-0 lead.

Neither team would score until the top of the 9th. Richy Pedroza led off the inning with a single. With two outs, Jesus Valdez doubled to center to plate Pedroza. A single by John Nogowski drove in Valdez to cut the lead to 5-2. The Yaquis were unable to score anymore runs and the Mayos had the 5-2 win.

Alonzo Harris went 3 for 5 with an RBI and 2 runs scored for Navojoa. Team mate Elmer Reyes was 3 for 5 and Victor Mendoza 2 for 5.

Jaime Lugo (1-0) went 6 innings to get the win for the 8-9 Mayos and Jesus Pirela notched his 4th save. Tommy Collier (0-2) gave up all 5 runs on 9 hits in 3 2/3 innings in taking the loss.

Obregon fell to 8-10 on the season, losing the 1st game under new manager Juan Gabriel Castro

Navojoa 4 Culiacan 2

JOVAN ROSA'S 2 RUN HOME RUN THE DIFFERENCE

Tha Mayos scored first in the bottom half of the 3rd. Fernando Flores walked and stopped at third on a double by Alejandro Gonzalez. Flores scored on a sac fly by Alonzo Harris for the early 1-0 lead.

Culiacan tied things up in the top of the 5th on singles by Jose Orozco and Alexis Wilson and then a 2 out single by Antonio Lamas that scored Orozco.

The Tomaters added a run on a solo home run off the bat of Ryan McBroom in the top half of the 6th to give Culiacan a 2-1 lead.

Navojoa put the game away in their half of the 6th. Harris singled and stole second. A ground out got Harris to third. A single to center by Victor Mendoza plated Harris and Mendoza scored in front of a Jovan Rosa home run to center that gave the Mayos a 4-2 lead and the eventual win.

Rosa was 1 for 2 with a walk and the home run for Navojoa while McBroom went 1 for 4 with the home run for the Tomateros.

Juan Robles (1-0) got the win in relief and Jesus Pirela notched his 3rd save of the young season. Mauricio Lara (1-1) was charged with a blown save and the loss.

With the win, the Mayos improved to 7-6 while Culiacan fell to 7-7.

Navojoa Overcomes Culiacan 5-4

MAYOS SCORE IN THE BOTTOM, OF THE 8th TO RETAKE LEAD

A double by Jovan Rosa, a sacrifice bunt by Paul Leon and a fielder's choice gave the Mayos a 5-4 lead and Jesus Pirela (1-1), although he gave up a hit in the 9th, got the final three outs to record the win. Gerardo Sanchez (0-1) gave up the go ahead run in the bottom of the 8th to take the loss.

Roeman Fields singled to lead off the game and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt. Luiz Cruz walked. A single to right by Ryan McBroom scored Fields and the Tomateros led 1-0 after 1/2 of an inning.

The Mayos scored 3 times in the bottom half of the third. Singles by Christian Zazueta and Alejandro Gonzalez put runners on second and third with 1 out. Victor Mendoza cleared the bases with a home run to right and Navojoa had a 3-1 lead.

Navojoa retook the lead at 4-3 on a solo home run ff the bat of Jovan Rosa.

With 2 outs in the top of the 8th for Culiacan, consecutive singles by Rico Noel and Luis Cruz had runners on first and second. Noel stole third and scored on a single by McBroom as Culiacan tied the game at 4. But the win went to the Mayos who retook the lead in the bottom of the 8th.

McBroom was 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs for Culiacan and Issmael Salas added his home run on a 1 for 3 night.

Mayos Outlast Yaquis 3-2

GOOD PITCHING BY BOTH TEAMS HIGHLIGHT CONTEST

Navojoa's starter, Jaime Lugo pitched well for 5 2/3 innings, allowing a run on 4 hits in his time on the mound but didn't figure in the decision. Esteban Haro (1-0) got the win in relief with Jesus Pirela earning his second save, although not without some drama. Pirela gave up a hit and walked a batter putting the tying run at second with 1 out. Pirela got Sergio Contreras to fly out to short center and struck out Moises Gutierrez to end the game.

Tomo Otosaka doubled in the bottom in the 1st and scored on a single by Jesus Valdez to give Obregon the 1-0 lead.

Luis Fonseca reached first on a force out in the 4th for Navojoa and went to third on a single by Paul Leon. Fonseca scored on a sac fly to tie the game at 1 all.

Paul Leon doubled in the top of the 6th and scored on a single by Elmer Reyes to give the Mayos a 2-1 lead.

Obregon tied the game again in their half of the 7th on a double by Jose Felix and a run scoring single by Moises Gutierrez.

In this seesaw battle, Navojoa retook the lead for good in the top of the 8th inning. Alonzo Harris drew a lead off walk and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Elmer Reyes. Harris scored  on a double by Victor Mendoza for the 3-2 lead and the eventual win.

11,388 fans packed Nuevo Estadio Yaquis on a hot muggy afternoon only to watch the home town boys fall to 3-5 with the loss as the Mayos improved to 4-3

Tomateros Edge Mayos 2-1

A JOEY MENESES SINGLE WINS IT FOR CULIACAN

With one out in the top of the 9th, Dylan Moore singled to right and advanced to second on a walk issued to Henry ramos. Joey Meneses the singled to right to score Moore with the go ahead run. The Mayos loaded the bases in th bottom of the 9th with 1 out but Diego Madero and Christian Zazueta both struck out to end the game.

The low scoring game saw score a run in the top of the4th on a home run by Henry Ramos.

Navojoa tied the game in the bottom of the 8th. Fernando Flores led off the inning with a single. Diego Madero then reached first on a bunt. Madero was initially ruled out but a review of the play overturned the call on the field and Madero was called safe. Both runners advanced on a sacrifice bunt and pinch runner Omar Renteria scored on a sac fly by Alberto Harris to tie the game at 1 all.

Neither starter was around for the decision. Dallas Beeler had a 2 hitter through 6 2/3 innings with no runs allowed. Enrique Oquendo gave up a run on 3 hits for Navojoa in 4 innings on the mound. David Goforth (1-0) got the win in relief while Casey Coleman earned the save. Jesus Pirela (0-1) suffered the loss.
