NFL Picks Week 8

I went 8-6 for the second week in a row. The Bills should have been a shoo-in but put themselves in a 21 point hole they were almost able to climb out of...almost! The Steelers lose to the Chiefs...who would have thought? Colts and Cowboys looked horrible in loses and it's a good thing the Ravens lost QB/OC communications or I would have been 7-7.

By the way, why can't Joe Flacco call his own play if there is no communication? Don't the Ravens anticipate problems and have alternative plans?

Here goes this week. Make sure you check back to see how I did against you!

Miami @ New England   (W)Patriots 28-20   Can't see the Patriots losing to the revitalized Dolphins
Detroit @ Kansas City   (L)Lions 17-13   Only because no Charles makes things tough
Tampa Bay @ Atlanta   (L)Falcons 31-30   Atlanta rights the ship and sets sail
Minnesota @ Chicago   (W)Vikings 21-20   Vikes overcome much to beat Da Bears
Arizona @ Cleveland   (W)Cardinals 31-17   Cards defense too much for the Brows
San Francisco @ St. Louis   (W)Rams 21-10   I like the Rams "D" at home
NY Giants @ New Orleans   (W)Saints 17-16   Out on a limb pick here
Cincinnati @ Pittsburgh   (W)Bengals 21-17   Steelers mistake prone; Bengals capitalize
San Diego @ Baltimore   (W)Ravens 24-22   I'll give you 1 more chance Baltimore
Tennessee @ Houston   (W)Texans 14-10   TJ Yates off the bench to lead TD drive
NY Jets @ Oakland   (W)Raiders 28-21   Let down from NE game and Raiders are tough
Seattle @ Dallas   (W)Seahawks 24-17   Randall AWOL, Romo out, no Bryant...Oh oh
Green Bay @ Denver   (L)Packers 31-17   The shine comes off the Broncos
Indianapolis @ Carolina   (W)Panthers 27-17   Undefeated season for Panthers?

The Bills, Jaguars, Redskins and Eagles have the week off. They all need it.

I changed my mind at the last second and picked the Lions to best the Chiefs...oh well that one is on me. But the Falcons losing to the Bucs, in OT no less, is all on the up and down Falcons. The Broncos held Aaron Rodgers to 77 yards passing on a 14 for 22 game. That's right 77 yards for an entire game. The Broncos "D" really looked good and Peyton Manning had a pretty good game too.

Okay...I called the game with the Panthers beating the Colts but how does a professional, undefeated team such as the Panthers take a 17 point lead with 10:51 to play in the game and turn it into a nail biter that has to be won in OT? Who knows!

I had a pretty good week, finishing 10-3 to bring my overall record to 71-47.

NFL Picks For Week 6

Finished 9-5 last week. Overall record 45-32. The Chiefs were an especially hard team to watch last week so for spite I picked the Vikings over the Chiefs this week...that and Jamaal Charles ACL problem. Jacksonville allowed the Bucs to score 38 points...shame on them but they are playing the Texans this week. (Full disclosure I picked the Texans) The Ravens lost in OT...Who knew? I think the hardest loss to take was the Chargers. They let the Steelers march 80 yards in 1:38 and gave up the touchdown. I hate the "prevent" defense.

Here are my picks for week 6:

Atlanta @ New Orleans   (L)Falcons 28-17   Atlanta is too much for the Saints
Cincinnati @ Buffalo  (W) Bengals 35-13   If Taylor wasn't hurt, a much closer game
Denver @ Cleveland   (W)Broncos 21-17   Prohibitive pick, possible upset if Browns throw for 457
Chicago @ Detroit   (L)Bears 24-21   Does the whole league have the Lions playbook?
Miami @ Tennessee   W)Dolphins 21-20   Okay...I always pick the new coach
Kansas City @ Minnesota   (W)Vikings 28-21   No Charles, no win for the Chiefs
Washington @ NY Jets   (W)Jets 17-14   Jets rested...Redskins bad
Arizona @ Pittsburgh   (L)Cardinals 35-21   No last second TD in this game
Houston @ Jacksonville   (W)Texans 19-16   Someone has to win...why not Houston
Carolina @ Seattle   (L)Seahawks 24-21   Unbeaten no more...'Hawks win
San Diego @ Green Bay   (W)Packers 28-17   Who picks against Rodgers
Baltimore @ San Francisco   (L)Ravens 23-16   Don't let me down again Flacco
New England @ Indianapolis   (W)Patriots 28-17 Checking inflation after each snap
NY Giants @ Philadelphia   (L)Giants 23-22   Eli plays well, Bradford not so much

Check back during the games on Sunday and late Monday night to see how I've done.

As always, comments are welcome. Check me out on Facebook at: www.facebook/wdbarrsports

Falcons are the first of the 5 unbeaten to fall! I finished 8-6 this week. The Falcons, Bears, Cardinals and Giants let me down. I picked the Ravens the last 3 weeks with no luck. 53-38 overall...I'll do better next week I promise

Winless Oakland Raiders Top KC Chiefs 24-20

The Kansas City Chiefs did what no other NFL team has done since November 17th, 2013...They lost to the Oakland Raiders 24-20 on Thursday night. The Chiefs had been tied for first place in the AFC West but will have to wait until the 30th of November, when they face the Broncos, for their shot to take sole possession of first again.

Oakland took a 17-10 lead into the 4th quarter and used a 17 play 80 yard drive to score on a 9 yard touchdown pass from Derek Carr to James Jones with 1:42 left on the clock to seal the win.

Latavius Murry, Raiders running back, rushed for 112 yards on just 4 carries with 2 touchdowns including a 90 yard run that put the Raiders up 14-0 early in the second quarter. The Raiders rushed for 179 yards while the Chiefs were held to 96 yards on the ground on 24 carries. Jamaal Charles, who had 159 yards and 2 TDs against Seattle in the Chiefs 24-20 win, was held to just 80 yards on 19 carries with no touchdowns.

James Jones had a touchdown reception from Derek Carr. Jamaal Charles and Anthony Fasano, had touchdown catches from the Chief's Alex Smith.

Kansas City will have 10 days off before facing the Broncos on the 30th of November.
