Tomateros Score Early Top Charros 6-2

Agustin Murillo went 3 for 4 last night with 2 RBIs in the 6-2 loss to the Tomateros de Culiacan. His single in the bottom of the 3rd with the bases loaded and 2 outs, drove in Jonathan Aceves and Amadeo Zazueta to cut the Culiacan lead to 4-2.

The Charros starter, Manuel Flores, gave up 6 runs on 9 hits in 3 2/3 innings, continuing a troubling trend of allowing the opposing team to build an early lead.

Flores was tagged for consecutive singles by Rico Noel and Ronnier Mustelier to start the game. After a strike out, Joey Meneses singled to drive in Noel and Jorge Vazquez singled to plate Mustelier. Mike Carp's sac fly to left got Meneses home for the 3-0 Culiacan lead.

Doubles by the Tomatero's Irving Wilson and Mustelier added a run in the 2nd inning to increase the lead to 4-0.

Murillo's 2 run single in the bottom of the 3rd cut the lead to 4-2 but the Tomateros responded in the top of the 4th with 2 runs of their own. With 2 outs, Wilson singled and went to third on a double by Noel. Both runners scored on a single by Mustelier for the final 6-2 margin of victory.

Manuel Flores (0-1) took the loss for Jalisco while Aaron Thompson (1-0) worked 6 innings, allowing 2 runs while scattering 9 hits, striking out 6 and not giving up a walk in the win.

In addition to Murillo's 3 for 4 night at the plate, Jonathan Aceves, a catching substitute for the injured Gabriel Gutierrez, was 2 for 4 with a run scored for the Charros.

Ronnier Mustelier was 3 for 5 with 3 RBIs, Rico Noel 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored and Irving Wilson 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored for Culiacan.

2 games left in the weekend series as the 3-6 Charros hope to win both games against the 5-4 Tomateros. Monday is a travel day and the Charros open a 3 game series against the Aguilas de Mexicali on Tuesday the 25th of October.

Navojoa 5, Mexicali1

The Mayos de Navojoa had a 2-0 lead entering the top of the 4th inning when CJ Retherford, 1 for 3 on the night, hit a 2 out solo home run to left center for the Aguilas. Unfortunately, that was all the offense Mexicali could muster in the 5-1 loss. Yosmany Guerra was 2 for 4 with 3 RBIs for the Mayos. Jorge Castillo (1-1) allowed 1 run on 3 hits in the win while Efren Delgado (1-1) gave up 4 runs on 10 hits in the loss.

Los Mochis 2, Mazatlán 1

Emmanuel Avila hit a sac fly to center in the bottom of the 8th inning that scored pinch runner Sergio Garcia to snap a 1-1 tie ballgame. The Canero's closer, Jon Sinte worked a perfect 9th to preserve the win for Santiago Gutierrez (1-0) and pick up his 4th save of the year. Manny Delcarmen (0-1) took the loss.

Hermosillo 6, Obregon 3

The league leading Naranjeros improved to 7-2 on the year with as they doubled up the Yaquis with a 6-3 win at home. Hermosillo was trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the 7th when Roberto Ramos hit a grand slam as the Naranjeros scored 4 runs in the inning to put the game away. Rafael Cordova (1-0) picked up the win in relief and Paul Sewald resorded his 4th save. Puebla Bangs Out 20 Hits To Cruise Past Saltillo 13-5

The Pericos de Puebla batters connected for 20 base hits, including 5 by first baseman Cesar Tapia, scored in every inning but the 1st, and cruised to a 13-5 win over the Saraperos de Saltillo.

Enrique Lechuga (1-0) pitched 5 innings for the Pericos, giving up 3 runs on 5 hits while striking out 1 and walking 3. Jaime Lugo, Heberto Gonzalez and David Dominguez pitched the final 4 innings for Puebla.

Santiago Gutierrez (1-1) had a rocky outing for Saltillo. He lasted 4 innings but gave up 11 hits and 6 earned runs, giving up a home run while striking out 3 and not allowing a walk. Thomas Melgarejo, who relieved Gutierrez, fared no better as he allowed 3 hits and 3 runs in just 1 inning of work on the mound.

With a 3 run lead heading into the bottom of the 3rd inning, Puebla's Jon Del Campo led off with a double and two outs later scored on a double to center by Miguel Tejada. Sandy Madera doubled to score Tejada and Cesar Tapia singled to center to drive in Tapia and give the Pericos a 6-0 lead.

Puebla scored a single run in the 5th inning for a 7-0 lead before Saltillo scored 4 times in the top of the 6th. The Saraperos loaded the bases, with no outs, on consecutive singles by Manuel Bobadilla, Justin Greene and Luis Borges. Bobadilla scored on a balk. Greene scored on a sac fly to right by Manny Rodriguez and Luis Terrero cleared the bases with a 2 run home run to left. The Saraperos had cut the lead to 7-4.

Jon Del Campo got two of those runs back in the Puebla half of the 6th on a 2 run home run to right center that increased the Pericos lead to 9-4.

Puebla would add 2 runs in the 7th and 2 more runs in the 8th to take a 13-4 lead into the top of the 9th inning.

Saltillo scored their final run when Francisco Ferreiro singled, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on a single by Jonathan Aceves with two outs. Manuel Bobadilla popped up to short for the third out and the final score of 13-5.

Cesar Tapia was 5 for 5 with 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored for Puebla. Jon Del campo went 4 for 5 with 2 doubles and a home run and 4 RBIs. Brent Clevlin was also 4 for 5 for the Pericos with 2 RBIs and Miguel Tejada had a home run and 2 RBIs on a 2 for 4 night at the plate. The #3 through 6 batters for Puebla were 13 for 19 with 8 RBIs and 9 runs scored.

Luis Terrero was 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 RBIs for Satillo. Manny Rodriguez added an RBI on a sac fly and Jonathan Aceves went 1 for 3 with an RBI.

Aguascalientes 9, Oaxaca 4 (11 innings)
The Rieleros scored 5 runs in the top of the 11th to send the Guerreros de oaxaca to their 9th loss in 10 games. The big hit of the inning was a 3 run home run by Domingo Castro. Heriberto Rueles (2-0) picked up the win in relief and Hector Sanchez (0-1) was charged with the loss.

Monterrey 8, Yucatan 3
The Sultanes scored 4 times in the 6th inning to take the lead for good over the Leones. Agustin Murillo went 1 for 4 with 2 RBIs for Monterrey. Corey Wimberly was 3 for 4 for Yucatan as Luis Garcia went 1 for 4 with 2 RBIs. Javier Solas (1-1) was credited with the win and Alejandro Astorga (1-1) suffered the loss.

Campeche 7, Monclova 6 (11 innings)
Dave Sappelt tripled and scored ona single by Josh Fields in the top of the 11th innings for the Piratas. Ivan salas pitched the bottom of the 11th for his 1st save of the year and Osiris Matos (1-1) got the win. Juan Noriega (0-1) took the loss. Flavio Romero went 2 for 6 with 3 RBIs for the Acereros.

Quintana Roo 6, Tamaulipas 0
Rafael Perez (1-1) pitched 7 shutout innings allowing 2 hits while striking out 5 in the Tigres 6-0 win over the Broncos. Jesus Carrillo (0-1) took the loss. Francisco Peguero was 3 for 3 with an RBI for the Tigres. Rodolfo Amador went 2 for 3 for the Broncos.

Tijuana 5, Veracruz 4
Miguel Torrero hit a 2 run home run in the 7th for the Toros to giva Tijuana a 5-1 lead and the Toros weathered a 3 run Aguilas 8th inning to outlast Veracruz 5-4. With the victory, the Toros improved to 9-1 on the year. Jose Chavez was 2 for 4 with a home run and 2 runs scored for the Aguilas. terance marin (1-0) got the win and Ramon Ramirez picked up his 5th save of the season. Ignacio Montano (1-1) took the loss.

Laguna 14, Ciudad del Carmen 4
The Vaqueros sent 12 men to the plate and scored 9 times in the bottom of the 1st and never looked back as Laguna beat the Delfines 14-4. Jose Orozco and Juan Miranda each hit home runs in the inning. Angel berroa was 1 for 2 with 2 walks, 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored for the Vaqueros. Hubbie Pellegaud (1-0) got the win while Sergio Mora (0-2) suffered the loss, lasting just 1/3 of an inning and being charged with 9 earned runs.

Mexico 4, Tabasco 0
The Diablos Rojos rode a 3 run 3rd inning to victory over the home town Olmecas. Emmanuel Avila went 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs while Ivan Terrezas and Ramon Urias were both 2 for 5 for Mexico.David Reyes (2-0) picked up the win while Leo Medrano (1-1) was saddled with the loss for Tabasco
