Derek Bryant in his younger days |
In 1993 he managed the Naranjeros de Hermosillo to a league championship in the Liga Mexicana del Pacifico. He would return to the Naranjeros for another LMP Championship in 2000.
During his second stint with the Sultanes, Bryant won LMB Championships in 1995 and 1996.
After two years as manager of the High Desert Mavericks, a Class A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks in the California League, in 1999 and 2000, Bryant returned to the Sultanes for the 2001 and 2002 seasons.
2003 found Derek Bryant manager of the Acereros de Monclova before Bryant managed the Saraperos de Satillo from 2004 until 2007.
Derek Bryant was named to the Salon de la Fama del Beisbol Profesional de Mexico, better known as the Mexican Baseball Hall of Fame in 2010.

The Vaqueros de Laguna named Bryant their field boss in 2011.
In November of 2014, Bryant was again named as the manager of the Sultanes de Monterrey.
