Tomateros de Culiacan Fire Manager Lorenzo Bundy
CULIACAN BEGINS SEASON 8-10
Lorenzo Bundy has been fired as the manager of the Tomateros after beginning the season 8-10. This is the 2nd managerial change in the LMP in the last two days.
Robinson Cancel has been named to the manager with tonight's game against the Charros de Jalisco.
Culiacan also fired bench coach Noe Munoz and names Oscar Robles as their new bench coach.

Los Mochis Sweeps Series With Culiacan; Venados and Aguilas Also Win
OUTSCORES TOMATEROS 25-11
The Caneros de Los Mochis traveled to Culiacan for 3 games with the Tomateros and came away with a sweep. The tone for the series was set on Tuesday when Culiacan blew a 5-2 lead in the top of the 9th and gave up a 3 run home run in the 10th to lose 8-5.
On Thursday, the Caneros jumped on Culiacan starter Salvador Valdez (1-1) for 4 runs in the 1st inning and never looked back on their way to a 7-2 win. Valdez gave up 5 runs on 11 hits in the first two innings to take the loss. Derek Miramontes (1-0) held the Tomateros to 2 runs on 6 hits through 5 2/3 innings to get the win for Los Mochis.
Los Mochis used 5 singles, a ground out and a hit batter to score their 4 runs in the 1st. The big hit of the inning was a bases loaded single by Sergio Garcia that scored Emmanuel Avila and Yoan Pedroso.
Garcia was 2 for 3 on the night for the Caneros with a walk and 2 RBIs an Roldolfo Amador was 1 for 3 with 2 RBIs.
Oscar Robles went 1 for 3 with an RBI in the losing effort and Cesar Tapia drove in the other run for the Tomateros going 1 for 4 at the plate.
The Tomateros committed 3 errors in the game.

Mazatlán 4, Navojoa 2
The Venados scored twice in the top of the 1st inning to beat the to best the hometown Mayos de Navojoa 4-2 and improve their season record to 2-3. The Mayos dropped to 2-3. Esteban Quiroz went 2 for 3 with 2 walks, an RBI and a run scored for Mazatlán and DH Albino Contreras was 2 for 4 with a double and 2 RBIs. Eliseo Aldazaba was 2 for 5 with an RBI and Quincy Latimore 2 for 5 with a run scored for Navojoa. Jesus Sanchez (1-0) worked 2 innings in relief to get the win and Steven Hensley picked up his 2nd save. Jorge Castillo (0-1) suffered the loss for the Mayos.
Mexicali 5, Ciudad de Obregon 1
Efren Delgado (1-0) pitched 5 innings of 3 hit ball, giving up 1 run and striking out 5 to get the win for the Aguilas. Martin Sotelo (0-1) gave up 3 runs on 4 hits over 4 2/3 innings on the mound to take the loss. Gil Velazquez was 1 for 2with a walk, an RBI and 2 runs scored for Mexicali and catched Xorge Carrillo 2 for 3 with an RBI. Said Gutierrez went 1 for 3 with a home run for the Yaquis. Obregon was held to just 4 hits on the night. The Aguilas took 2 of 3 against the Yaquis. 11,402 fans were there to root the home team to victory.

Barry Enright scattered 7 hits, walked none and struck out 3 in the 10-3 win over the Vaqueros in the Zona Norte elimination game of the LMB playoffs. Enright gave up a two run home run to Sergio Garcia with two outs in the 7th inning before being replaced in the 8th.
Eduardo Arredondo drew a lead off walk, advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Maxwell Leon and scored on a single to center by Oscar Robles to give the Toros the early 1-0 lead after 1 inning.
Laguna tied the score in the top of the 3rd on a single by Sergio Garcia, who stole second, and a run scoring double to left center by Mario Vega.
The Toros answered quickly in their half of the 3rd. Jose Chavez waited out a lead off base on balls and moved to second on a single by Eduardo Arredondo. Maxwell Leon placed a bunt down the third base line and when the Vaqueros third baseman threw wildly to 1st, Chavez scored and Arredondo went to third. Oscar Robles then singled to right to score Arredondo, his 2nd RBI of the night, and the 3-1 Tijuana lead.
After Miguel Olivo singled with 2 outs in the bottom of the 6th and stole second, Luis Suarez singled to drive in Olivo and increase the Toros lead to 4-1. Suarez took second on a throwing error by the Laguna right fielder. Jose Chavez walked and Eduardo Arredondo singled to score Suarez for the 5-1 lead.
The Vaqueros got the 2 run home run by Sergio Garcia in the 7th to bring Laguna to within 2 runs at 5-3.
Lew Ford led off the bottom of the 7th for Tijuana with a triple and scored one out later on a single to center by Carlos Valencia. Toros 6, Vaqueros 3.
Tony Pena Jr., the LMB leader in saves with 25, was brought in to pitch the 8th inning for the Vaqueros and gave up 4 runs. Eduardo Arredondo singled and scored on a double by Maxwell Leon. Leon would score in front of a home run by Lew Ford. Dustin Martin singled to center, Carlos Valencia singled and Martin scored on a single by Miguel Olivo to bring the score to the final 10-3.
Eduardo Arredondo was 3 for 4 with 3 runs scored, Lew Ford 2 for 5 with the home run and 2 RBIs and Miguel Olivo 3 for 5 with an RBI for the Toros. Oscar Robles added 2 RBIs on a 2 for 5 night at the plate.
Sergio Garcia went 2 for 3 with the home run, 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored for Laguna.
Barry Enright got the win while the Vaqueros starter, Danny Gutierrez, took the loss.
The Toros now travel to Mexico City to take on the #1 seed Diablos Rojos del Mexico in a seven game series beginning on Tuesday the 18th of August.

Toros de Tijuana Top Reynosa 10-6
The Toros de Tijuana improved to 7-1 on the young season with a 10-6 victory over the Broncos de Reynosa in Tijuana.
Jose Contreras pitched 6 innings allowing 3 runs on 6 hits while striking out 4 to get the win. Jose Vargas took the loss, lasting just 2 2/3 innings and giving up 7 runs on 8 hits.
Reynosa scored in the top of the 1st without benefit of a hit. Daniel Hinojosa drew a lead off walk, stole second, went to third on a sacrifice bunt and scored on a sac fly to right by Frank Diaz.
The Toros answered in their half of the inning on a walk to Luis Suarez and a double by Oscar Robles as Tijuana tied the score at 1.
The Broncos retook the lead in the top of the 2nd on consecutive two out singles by Rodolfo Amador and Cristhian Presichi and a run scoring single to right by Hector Paez. The Broncos led 2-1.
Tijuana exploded for 6 runs in the bottom of the 3rd. Bernardo Heras led off with a double, and following an Eduardo Arredondo single, scored on a single to left by Luis Suarez. Oscar Robles connected on a single, the fourth hit in a row for the Toros, that scored Arredondo. Miguel Olivo ground into a 4-6-3 double play that scored Suarez. Adan Munoz and CJ Retherford singled and scored in front of Ramon Pena's home run to left center. The Toros were on top 7-2 after 3 innings.

In the 1st game of a scheduled double header with the Saraperos de Saltillo, The Acereros del Norte scored 4 times in the 3rd inning and twice more in the 4th to beat the Saraperos 8-1. The second game was rained out. Hernando Arredondo was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 RBIs for Monclova and Luis Terrero was 1 for 3 with an RBI for Saltillo.

The Tigres de Quintana Roo scored 8 times in the first 3 innings and coasted to a 13-4 win over the Guerreros de Oaxaca. The Tigres hit 6 home runs in the game. Justin Cristian went 4 for 4 with a home run while Jesus Espinoza had 2 home runs while going 2 for 4 at the plate with 3 RBIs for the Tigres.

The Piratas de Campeche got a home run by Eliseo Aldazaba and 2 doubles from Dave Sappelt to beat the Aguilas Rojos de Veracruz 4-1. Jo-Jo Reyes got the win for Campeche and Ricardo Gomez picked up his 2nd save of the year. Tomas Solis took the loss for the Aguilas.

The Rieleros de Aguascalientes' Saul Soto had 2 home runs and 5 RBIs in the Rieleros 7-4 victory over the Vaqueros de la Laguna. Leobardo Arauz also homered for the Rieleros. Francisco Mendez went 2 for 4 with a home run and 4 RBIs for the Vaqueros.

The Leones de Yucatan scored 5 times in the 2nd inning and 4 more times in the 8th to put away the Pericos de Puebla 12-6. Jesus Valdez was 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs and 3 runs scored for the Leones. Israel Nunez was 1 for 4 with a home run. Marco Quevedo won the game to improve to 2-0 on the young season. Brent Clevlin went 3 for 4 with a home run and Luke Scott had a home run and 2 RBIs for the Pericos.

the Delfines de Ciudad del Carmen got a lead off, walk off home run by Ruben mateo to top the Olmecas de Tabasco 6-5. Josh Lueke got the win in relief while Jose Cobos took the loss for the Olmecas. Tomateros Reach Liga Mexicana del Pacifico Finals Against Charros
TOP AGUILAS de MEXICALI 9-8 IN ELEVEN INNINGS
The Tomateros de Culican are in the finals of the Liga de Mexicana del Pacifico against the Charros de Jalisco by virtue of their 9-8 win over the Aguilas de Mexicali in 11 innings last night. The Tomateros squandered an 8-3 lead but held on to win on a throwing error by the Aguilas pitcher in the bottom of the 11th.
The Aguilas scored two in the 1st on a walk to Gil Velazquez and a home run to left by Humberto Cota that got Mexicli off to a 2-0 lead.
John Lindsey led off the 2nd for Mexicali with a solo home run to left to up the Aguilas' lead to 3-0.
Joey Meneses singled to lead off the Tomateros half of the 2nd. Russell Branyan then singled to left with Meneses going to third. Meneses and Branyan both scored in front of Oscar Robles' home run to right that tied the score at 3.
In the bottom of the 3rd for Culiacan, Eric Farris led off with a single and went to second on a single by Russell Branyan. Issmael Salas sent a shot to left for a home run that scored Farris and Branyan and increased the Tomateros lead to 6-3.
Culiacan scored twice in the bottom of the 4th. A single by Eric Farris, with two outs, started things off. Joey Meneses followed with a single that moved Farris to third. Russell Branyan then singled to score Farris with Meneses going to third. A passed ball scored Meneses and the Tomateros were ahead 8-3.
Dave Sappelt hit a three run home run for the Aguilas in the top of the 5th that scored Chris Roberson and Gil Velazquez to narrow the Tomateros lead to 8-6.
Mexicali scored a run in the 8th on singles by Humberto Cota and Luis Juarez and a sac fly to center by Ricardo Serrano that scored Cota. The Aguilas were now 1 run back at 8-7.
The Aguilas tied the score at 8-8 in the top of the 9th on Dave Sappelt's second home run of the night, a solo blast to left that tied the game and forced extra innings.
The Tomateros won the game in the bottom of the 11th when, following a double by Joey Meneses, the Mexicali pitcher threw wildly to first on a sacrifice bunt attempt by Sergio Gastelum that scored Meneses with the winning run.
The Tomateros now face the Charros de Jalisco in a best of seven championship series that begins in Guadalajara on Wednesday night

The Aguilas scored two in the 1st on a walk to Gil Velazquez and a home run to left by Humberto Cota that got Mexicli off to a 2-0 lead.
John Lindsey led off the 2nd for Mexicali with a solo home run to left to up the Aguilas' lead to 3-0.
Joey Meneses singled to lead off the Tomateros half of the 2nd. Russell Branyan then singled to left with Meneses going to third. Meneses and Branyan both scored in front of Oscar Robles' home run to right that tied the score at 3.
In the bottom of the 3rd for Culiacan, Eric Farris led off with a single and went to second on a single by Russell Branyan. Issmael Salas sent a shot to left for a home run that scored Farris and Branyan and increased the Tomateros lead to 6-3.
Culiacan scored twice in the bottom of the 4th. A single by Eric Farris, with two outs, started things off. Joey Meneses followed with a single that moved Farris to third. Russell Branyan then singled to score Farris with Meneses going to third. A passed ball scored Meneses and the Tomateros were ahead 8-3.
Dave Sappelt hit a three run home run for the Aguilas in the top of the 5th that scored Chris Roberson and Gil Velazquez to narrow the Tomateros lead to 8-6.
Mexicali scored a run in the 8th on singles by Humberto Cota and Luis Juarez and a sac fly to center by Ricardo Serrano that scored Cota. The Aguilas were now 1 run back at 8-7.
The Aguilas tied the score at 8-8 in the top of the 9th on Dave Sappelt's second home run of the night, a solo blast to left that tied the game and forced extra innings.
The Tomateros won the game in the bottom of the 11th when, following a double by Joey Meneses, the Mexicali pitcher threw wildly to first on a sacrifice bunt attempt by Sergio Gastelum that scored Meneses with the winning run.
The Tomateros now face the Charros de Jalisco in a best of seven championship series that begins in Guadalajara on Wednesday night

Charros Ride an 8 Run 2nd Inning To Victory Over Culiacan
The Charros scored 8 runs in the bottom of the 2nd and coasted to a 13-6 win over the Tomateros de Culiacan. Jalisco had 15 hits with Amadeo Zazueta going 3 for 5 with 5 RBIs while Jesus Cota was 2 for 3 with 3 runs scored.
Russell Branyan led off the top of the 2nd for the Tomateros with a walk but was erased on a double play grounder by Issmael Salas. Arturo Rodriguez singled and went to third on a single to right by Oscar Robles, who went 4 for 4 for Culiacan. Ramiro Pena singled to score Rodriguez and Ali Solis singled to center to score Robles for the 2-0 Tomateros lead. Solis was caught trying to steal second for the third out and the Charos were out of the inning.
Jalisco struck back in their half of the 2nd. With one out, CJ Retherford singled to center. Jesus Cota drew a base on balls and Gabriel Gutierrez loaded the bases with a Texas League single to center. Amadeo Zazueta, the hero of Sunday's game with Mexicali, hit a 3 run double off the wall in center scoring Retherford, Cota and Gutierrez. Eduardo Arredondo hit his third double of the year to score Zazueta for a 4-2 Charros lead. After a wild pitch by the Culiacan starter Marco Camarena put Arredondo on third, Manny Rodriguez doubled to left to score Arredondo. Leo Heras drew a base on balls. With one out, Japhet Amador flied out to center moving Rodriguez to third and Heras to second. Marquez Smith followed with a single to score Rodriguez and Heras. CJ Retherford hit his second single of the inning to put runners on first and second with 2 outs. Jesus Cota singled to right to score Smith with the eighth run of the inning. After two innings the Charros led 8-2.

Flores gave up a single to Eric Farris. Russell Branyan singled to score Leon. Flores got Issmael Salas to ground out to third but the lead had narrowed to 8-6 Jalisco.
