Charros Cruise by Navojoa 8-5

MANNY RODRIGUEZ WITH A GRAND SLAM

Manny Rodriguez
The Charros de Jalisco improved to 8-7 on the season with an 8-5 win over the Mayos de Navojoa on Tuesday night. Manny Rodriguez launched a grand slam in the 2nd inning to give Jalisco a comfortable 5-0 lead. But no lead is safe in the Liga Mexicana del Pacifico.

Navojoa clawed their way back to cut the lead to 5-4 after six innings but Jalisco scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 7th to add to their lead and get the win. With the loss the Mayos fall to 7-7 on the year.

Amadeo Zazueta hit a solo home run in the 1st for Jalisco, his first of two home runs on the night, to give the Charros the early 1-0 lead. The Rodriguez slam made it 5-0 after two.

Paul Leon doubled to begin the top of the 3rd for Navojoa and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Leon would score on a ground out to begin chipping away at the Jalisco lead.

The Mayos scored twice in the 4th, on a ground ball out that drove in Elmer Reyes and a single off the bat of Leon that plated Luis Fonseca. Another run in the 6th cut the Charros' lead to 5-4.

Jalisco scored 3 times in the 7th, including another solo home run by Zazueta and the Mayos scored a single run in the 8th. That would be all the scoring and the Charros had the 8-5 win.

Vince Molesky (2-0) scattered 7 hits over 5 1/3 innings of work to get the win. Grant Sides earned his 5th save of the campaign. Misael Siverio (0-1) gave up the first 5 runs to the Charros on 6 hits over 5 innings on the mound to take the loss.

Jalisco Shutsout Obregon 1-0

WILLIAM OLIVER TOSSES 3 HITTER THROUGH 8 INNINGS

William Oliver
It's not often one can talk about a pitchers duel in the LMP, mostly because the managers change pitchers so often, but Jalisco's 1-0 win in Obregon was just that. William Oliver (2-0) pitched 8 masterful innings allowing 3 hits, all singles, before handing the ball to Grant Sides who earned his 4th save of the season.

Arturo Lopez, the Yaquis starter, matched Oliver pitch for pitch through 5 complete innings giving up 1 hit, a single, no runs and striking out 5 before being removed. The manager of the Yaquis obviously had his reasons for changing pitchers but Lopez was pitching great baseball.

Brandon Brennan (0-2) pitched the top of the 9th for Obregon giving up the lone run and taking the loss.

The Charros were held to 4 hits on the night but none bigger then their only extra base hit, a double by Kevin Medrano to lead off the top of the 9th. The next batter, Daniel Carbonell popped up the second for the 1st out. Medrano stole third setting up the best scoring opportunity Jalisco had all game. Amadeo Zazueta hit a fly ball sac fly to left that scored Medrano for the only run of the game and the Jalisco win.

Obregon did not get a runner in scoring position all game and 3 times the Yaquis runners were eliminated on double plays, one a strike'm out throw'm out DP/

Jalisco improved to 6-3 on the season with Obregon falling to 3-6
