Venados Comience Defensa de LMP Título 7-1 con Triunfo Sobre Mexicali

5 CORRER 6th ENTRADA MAZATLAN

La 2015-16 de la Liga Mexicana del Pacífico (LMP) Campeón Venados de Mazatlán comenzó la defensa de su título el 11 de octubre con un rotundo 7-1 derrota de los Águilas de Mexicali.

Que lleva las Águilas 2-1 entrar en la parte inferior de la sexta entrada, la ciudad natal Venados anotó 5 carreras a soplar abrir un partido cerrado.

Mazatlán saltó a una ventaja temprana en su mitad de la segunda entrada, en una caminata de Corey Brown y un jonron run 2 izquierdo y central por Brian Hernández. Venados 2, Aguilas 0.

El Águilas tiene una carrera de vuelta en la parte superior de la cuarta con un sencillo de Ramón Ríos, un doble por CJ Retherford, un bateador golpeado y una fuerza que a primera anotó Ríos. 2-1 Mazatlán.

Los Venados explotó en la parte inferior de la sexta entrada, el envío de 9 hombres al plato y anotó 5 veces. Heber Gómez y Samar Leyva se duplicaron en la entrada como la Venados construyó una ventaja de 7-1.

Walter Silva lanzó 5 entradas para los Venados que permiten la única Mexicali ejecuta en la escogencia de la victoria, mientras que del Aguila Edgar Osuna renunció a 2 carreras en 3 hits, incluyendo un jonrón, en sus 5 entradas de trabajo para asumir la pérdida.

Ramón Ríos fue de 3 por 4 con una carrera anotada para Mexicali mientras que Brian Hernández se fue 3 por 4 con un jonrón y 2 impulsadas para la Venados.

Los 6 equipos LMP restantes estarán en acción el 12 de octubre como el anfitrión Charros los Tomateros, los yaquis son en casa contra los Naranjeros y los Cañeros de Los Mochis visitar Navojoa a asumir los mayos.

Mayos de Navojoa Advance In LMP Playoffs

TOP VENADOS 5-4 WITH A CARLOS MONCRIEF HR

The Mayos went up 5-3 on a solo home run by Carlos Moncrief in the top of the 9th and withstood a Venados rally in the bottom of the inning to best Mazatlán 5-4 and advance in the 2016 Liga Mexicana del Pacifico Playoffs.

After Navojoa had taken a 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning, the Venados scored 3 times in their half of the inning. Jeremias Pineda singled, stole second, went to third on the throwing error by the catcher and scored 1 out later on a single by Cyle Hankerd. Mike Jacobs followed with a single and both runners advanced on a ground out. Edwin Salas drew an intentional walk to load the bases. Erick Rodriguez waited out a walk that scored Hankerd. Heber Gomez hit a slow roller to short that scored Jacobs for the 3-1 lead. The Mayos challenged the play at first but the "safe" call was upheld.

Navojoa got a run back in the 3rd inning on a singles by Genero Andrade, Jose Chavez and Quincy Latimore to cut the Venados lead to 3-2.

Pinch hitter Victor Mendoza hit a leadoff single for the Mayos in the top of the 7th inning and moved to second on a balk by the Venados pitcher. Diego Madero was brought in to run for Mendoza and scored 1 out later on a single by Alan Sanchez. The score was tied 3-3.

Carlos Moncrief doubled to lead off the Mayos half of the 8th inning and scored on a single to center by Jose Amador to give Navojoa their 1st lead of the night at 4-3.

Moncrief's solo home run to left, in the top of the 9th inning, put the Mayos up 5-3.

Jeremias Pineda singled with 1 out in the bottom of the 9th for Mazatlán and went to third on a wild pitch by the Mayos closer, Daniel Moskos. With 2 outs, Cyle Hankerd singled to right to score Pineda but Mike Jacobs struck out swinging to end the game.

Venados Avoid Sweep Top Charros 3-2

The Venados de Mazatlan took game 3 of the series with the Charros, 3-2, to avoid a series sweep. Fredy Quintero got the win with 6 2/3 innings of strong pitching to improve to 1-2 on the year while allowing 5 hits and striking out 5. Marco Tovar (5-1) suffered his first loss of the season surrendering all three Venado runs on 10 hits in his 6 1/3 innings of work.

Jesus Cota singled to lead off the Charros half of the 3rd. Jesus Lopez and Israel Nunez followed with singles to load the bases for Jalisco. One out later, Manny Rodriguez hit a sac fly to center to score Cota and the Charros had the early 1-0 lead.

Daryle Ward doubled to lead of the bottom of the 4th for the Venados. Ricardo Alvarez singled on a bunt down the third base line and Mazatlan had runners at first and second with no outs. Doug Clark singled to score Ward. Heber Gomez bunted for a single to load the bases. Jose Figueroa hit a sac fly to center to score Clark and the Venados had taken the lead 2-1. Jose Fabela walked to load the bases with two outs. Marco Tovar, the Charros starter, then walked Gilberto Mejia to force in Gomez for the 3-1 Venado lead.

The Charros scored a run in the top of the 8th to cut the lead to 3-2. Leo Heras singled to lead off the inning and went to second on a wild throw to first on a pickoff attempt. Marguez Smith then singled to score Heras but Smith was thrown out at second trying to advance on the throw home. Jalisco loaded the bases with two outs but Israel Nunez popped out to short to end the inning.

Jalisco overall is now 28-19 in the Liga de Mexicana del Pacifico with a 7-5 record in the second half. The Venados climb to 21-25 overall and 5-7 in the second half standings.

Charros Top League Leading Mazatlan 6-4

The Venados de Mazatlan, leading the Liga Mexicana del Pacifico, lost to the Charros de Jalisco on Tuesday, 6-4, to drop the first game of a crucial three game series in Zapopan.

Mazatlan broke out on top early, scoring two runs in the top of the 1st. With two outs, Heber Gomez walked and back-to-back doubles by Ryan Schimpf and Olmo Rosario had the Venados up 2-0.

The Charros got those runs back quickly in their half of the 1st on a double by Manny Rodriguez and a 2 run home run by Japhet Amador. The Charros had tied the game at 2 all.

Jalisco scored a run in the bottom of the 4th. Japhet Amador reached safely on an error by the Venados third baseman and took second on the throw. Jesus Cota singled to move Amador to third. Fernando Valenzuela singled to score Amador and the Charros had a 3-2 lead.

Mazatlan retook the lead in the top of the 5th. Charros starter, Ben Kozlowski walked the lead off man, Derrick Robinson who moved to second on a wild pitch. Albert Carreon walked. Kozlowski threw wildly on a sacrifice bunt by Heber Gomez and Robinson scored. Olmo Rosario grounded out to second to score Carreon and the Venados were on top 4-3.

Manny Rodriguez hit a solo home run in the bottom of the 5th to tie the game again, this time at 4 apiece.

Japhet Amador hit his second home run of the night, and 6th of the year, to giive the Charros the 5-4 lead in the bottom of the 7th.

Gabriel Gutierrez led off the bottom of the 8th with his first home run of the year and the Charros  went on to defeat Mazatlan 6-4.

Manuel Flores picked up the win in relief of Kozlowski and lowered his ERA to 1.17. Brian Broderick got the save, his 7th of the year, by shutting out the Venados in the top of the 9th. Felipe Gonzalez took the loss for Mazatlan and his record dropped to 1-2 on the year.

Japhet Amador was 2 for 3 with 2 home runs, 3 RBIs and 3 runs scored. Manny Rodriguez went 2 for 4 with a double, a home run, an RBI and 2 runs scored to raise his league leading batting average to .363. Rodriguez also leads the league in doubles with 11. Jesus Lopez was 2 for 4 to get his average back above .300. Gabriel Gutierrez went 1 for 4 with the solo home run.

Jalisco is now 12-9 on the year, 1/2 game behind the 12-8 Venados. The Yaquis de Obregon were rained out last night and lead the Liga Mexicana del Pacifico with a 12-7 record that leads the Charros by a full game.
