Yaquis Drop Charros 2-1 in 11 Innings

WALK OFF HIT BY PITCH DOES IN JALISCO

The Yaquis de Obregon and the Charros de Jalisco plated a 3 game series in Obregon with the Taquis taking 2 of 3. The story is this. The 2 teams played 2 extra inning games, one 14 innings and yesterday's 11 inning contest scoring just 5 runs in 34 innings. To have the game yesterday end on a walk off Hit By Pitch seems to be a travesty of justice.

Jalisco won the 1st game of the series 1-0 in regulation. Obregon took game 2 by a 1-0 score in 14 innings on a walk off slow roller to third and the Yaquis needed 11 innings to come away with the win in game 3.The series did nothing to help with batting averages but helped immensely with ERAs.

The teams used a total of 14 pitchers in this game seven by each side.

Tomas Solis
Tomas Solis (1-0) pitched the top of the 11th to get the win while Luis De La O (1-1) gave up a run on a walk, 2 hit batters and a hit in the bottom of the 11th to take the loss.

Cheslor Cuthbert scored the Yaquis 1st run in the 2nd inning on a throwing error by the Charros second Baseman for the early 1-0 Yaquis lead.

Jalisco tied the game in the 4th  on walks to Manny Rodriguez and Japhet Amador and a single by Dariel Alvarez that scored Rodriguez from second.

The game came down to this. The Charros reliever, Luis De La O, gave up a single to Tomo Otosaka, who went to second on a sacrifice bunt. Jesus Valdez was intentionally walked and Cuthbert was hit by a pitch to load the bases with 1 out. A pop up to third for the second out brought Jose Aguilar to the plate. De La O hit Aguilar with a pitch to force in Otosaka with the winning run.

The Charros fell to 6-5 on the year with the Yaquis improving to 5-6.

MANNY RODRIGUEZ 4 FOR 4 WITH 2 RUN HOME RUN

Manny Rodriguez
A game after being held to 1 hit by the Venados, the Charros collected 12 against the Naranjeros. Only lead off hitter Daniel Sandford failed to reach base for Jalisco. Gabriel Gutierrez had a triple, Manny Rodriguez had a double and a home run and Niko Vasquez added a home run in the slugfest.

The game seesawed back and forth until Jalisco scored 4 times in the 6th inning to take a 9-6 led. But the drama would return in the top of the 9th when the Charros closer, Grant Sides gave up 2 runs to make it 9-8. Sides walked Bryce Bretz and Jorge Flores followed with a single. Both runners scored on a double to center by Roberto Ramos. Sides got out of the inning with a ground out and a pop up to earn the save.

Luis De La O (1-0) picked up the win in relief, giving up a run on 1 hit in 1 inning on the mound while Raul Barron (0-1) took the loss

Ramon Rios was 3 for 5 with a home run and 3 RBIs for Hermosillo while team mate Danny Espinosa went 2 for 5 with a home run and 2 RBIs.

Aguilas Pull Off Improbable Win in Game 1 of LMP Playoffs

TOP MAYOS WITH WALK OFF RUN WITH 2 OUTS IN 9TH INNING

The Aguilas de Mexicali, down 6-5 entering the bottom of the 9th inning, got a bases loaded 2 out single from Luis Juarez to beat the Mayos de Navojoa 7-6 in game 1 of the Liga Mexicana del Pacifico playoffs.

Juarez Walk Off Single
The walk off single completed a comeback from a 6-0 deficit that began with a 5 run outburst in the 7th inning. Jose Oyervides, arguably the ace of the Mayos pitching staff, had scattered 5 hits and struck out 9 Aguilas in 6 complete innings on the mound. Faced with a 97 pitch night by Oyervides, the Mayos manager opted to bring on Luis de La O to start the 7th inning. O lasted just 1/3 of an inning and 3 more relievers gave up 5 runs on 5 hits.

Carlos Bustamante, on in the closer role for the Mayos in the bottom  of the 9th was charged with a blown save, and the loss, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits and walking 2 batters.

The Aguilas closer, Esmailin Caridad, picked up the win in relief, pitching a perfect top of the 9th for Mexicali.

The Mexicali starter, Javier Solano, lasted 4 1/3 innings giving up 5 runs on 5 hits, striking out 4 and hitting 2 batters.

Fernando Flores and Nate Tenbrink were both 2 for 5 for Navojoa. Jesus Castillo and his replacement at 1B, Victor Mendoza, combined to go 2 for 4 with 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored on the night. Jose Amador and Carlos Orrantia were each 1 for 3 with RBIs for the Mayos.

Chris Roberson went 3 for 5 with 2 RBIs for Mexicali. Luis Juarez was 2 for 5 with the game winning RBI. Ramon Urias was 2 for 5 from the leadoff spot with 2 runs scored. Yuniesky Betancourt, Xorge Carrillo and CJ Retherford all went 2 for 4 for the Aguilas. Retherford and Betancourt each drove in a run while Carrillo scored a run. Pinch hitter Ramon Rios was 1 for 2 with an RBI and  run scored.

Game 2 of the series continues on Monday, the 11th in Mexicali with games 3 and 4 scheduled for the 13th and 14th in Navojoa.
