Charros take Series From Mazatlan 2 Games to 1

PITCHING SUPERB AGAIN IN 5-1 WIN

Daniel Guerrero (2-1) worked a masterful 6 2/3 innings allowing just 1 run on 2 hits while striking out 6 as the Charros beat the Venados de Mazatlán. Jalisco improved to 9-8 on the year.

Walter Silva (1-3) matched Guerrero for 6 1/3 innings giving up 2 runs on 5 hits including a home run to Manny Rodriguez.

The game was scoreless until the 4th inning until Rodriguez connected for a 1 out solo home run to left for the 1-0 Charros lead.

Mazatlán answered in their half of the 4th on a walk to Corey Brown and a double from Brian Hernandez that drove in Brown with the tying run.

Agustin Murillo drew a 1 out base on balls in the top of the 7th and went to second on a single by Cacao Valdez. Murillo stole third and scored on a sac fly to center by Michael Choice for a 2-1 lead.

The Charros broke open the game with 3 runs in the top of the 9th. Manny Rodriguez singled with 1 out and went to second on a walk to Agustin Murillo. Cacao Valdez singled to drive in Rodriguez as Murillo stopped at second. Fernando Valenzuela followed with a single to score Murillo. The Venados reliever then threw a wild pitch that scored Valdez with the final run of the inning and the eventual 5-1 win.

Rodruguez was 2 for 4 with a home run and 2 runs scored, Cacao Valdez 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored and Murillo 1 for 2 with r runs scored for the Charros.

Brian Hernandez went 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and an RBI for Mazatlán.

There is no game on Monday but the 10-7 Naranjeros de Hermosillo come to Guadalajara on Tuesday the 1st of November for a 3 game series.

Mexicali 9, Obregon 1

Ramon Rios hit a 2 run home run in the bottom of the 1st and the Aguilas never looked back on their way to a 9-1 win over the Yaquis.  Rios was 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored while Yunesky Betancourt was 3 for 4 with an RBI and 3 runs scored and Christhian Presichi 3 for 4 with a double and 2 RBIs for Mexicali. Jose Felix went 2 for 4 and Nelson Perez 1 for 4 with a double and an RBI for the Yaquis. Javier Solano (3-1) struck out 5 and gave up a run in 6 1/3 innings to get the win. David Reyes (0-4) took the loss.

Navojoa 3, Culiacan 0

The Mayos scored twice in the 1st inning and a run in the 6th as they shut out the Tomateros 3-0. Jose Oyervides (2-0) struck out 3 and gave up 4 hits while working 6 2/3 innings to get the win for Navojoa. Esteban Haro earned his 3rd save. David Rodriguez (1-2) gave up 3 runs on 4 hits in 5 2/3 innings in the loss. Christian Zazueta was 1 for 2 with 2 RBIs for the Mayos. Maxwell Leon was 2 for 4 for Culiacan.

Los Mochis 4, Hermosillo 3

Roy Merritt (2-1) pitched 7 1/3 giving up a home run and 4 hits in the Caneros 4-3 win in Hermosillo. Andres Avila gave up a home run in the bottom of the 9th to make it close but still picked up his 2nd save. Nathanael Santiago (0-1) took the loss. Isaac Rodriguez was 4 for 5 with 2 RBIs and Saul Soto 1 for 4 with a home run for the Caneros. Luis Garcia was 1 for 4 with a home run and 2 RBIs while David Washington 1 for 3 with a home run and 2 runs scored for the Naranjeros.

Charros Crush Tomateros 10-1

On a perfect day for baseball in Guadalajara, the Charros were almost perfect in defeating the Tomateros de Culiacan 10-1 behind a strong outing by starter Marco Tovar (2-0). Tovar worked 6 innings, giving up the lone run on 6 hits while striking out 2.

The Charros had built a 2-0 lead when Nick Buss singled to start the top of the 4th for Culiacan. Sergio Gastelum followed with a double to left center with Buss stopping at third. Ryan Lollis hit a ground ball to second that scored Buss as the Tomateros cut the Charros lead to 2-1.

Jalisco responded quickly and resoundingly in their half of the 4th inning. Edson Garcia drew a lead off walk and went to third on a single by Gabriel Gutierrez. Jesus Lopez dropped a squeeze bunt down the first base line that catcher Ali Solis couldn't handle, Garcia scored and all runners were safe. Eduardo Arredondo laid down a bunt for a single and the bases were loaded. With one out, Jesus Valdez hit a long fly ball to left center that scored Gutierrez for the 4-1 lead. With one swing of the bat, Japhet Amador made it a 7-1 game with a long 3 run home run to left.

Pinch hitter, Fernando Valenzuela Jr. hit a solo home run to right to increase the Charros lead to 8-1.

Eduardo Arredondo singled in the bottom of the 8th and went to second on a throwing error by the Tomatero shortstop. Manny Rodriguez than lofted a fly ball into right center that fell between the two Tomatero outfielders for a single. Alejandro Ortiz singled to drive in Arredondo. Following a walk to Japhet Amador that loaded the bases, Alex Liddi hit a sac fly to right that scored Ortiz for the 10-1 lead and the win.

Felipe Arredondo (0-1) gave up 7 runs on 9 hits to take the loss for the Tomateros who fell to 1-6 on the year while the Charros improved to 6-1.

Mexicali 5, Los Mochis 3

The Aguilas scored 3 runs in the top of the 9th to overcome a 3-2 deficit and beat the Caneros 5-3. Andres Avila (0-1) was charged with a blown save and the loss. Francisco Rodriguez (1-0) picked up the win in relief and Adam Reifer notched his 3rd save of the year. Chris Roberson was 3 for 4 and Gil Velazquez went 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs for Mexicali. Yunesky Betancourt homered for the Aquilas. Saul Soto homered for the Caneros and Roldolfo Amador was 2 for 4 in a losing effort.

Hermoillo 7, Mazatlán 3 (13 innings)

The Naranjeros snapped a 6 game losing streak with a wild 13 inning win in Mazatlán. Hermosillo scored 4 runs in the top of the 13th to defeat the Venados 7-3. Mazatlan had tied the game in the bottom of the 9th. The Naranjeros used 8 pitchers in the win while the Venados called on 7 pitchers. Ronnie Shaban was charged with a blown save for Hermosillo while Nickolas Sarianides (1-0) picked up the win. Jesus Sanchez (1-1) took the loss. Adan Munoz had a home run and 2 RBIs, Jose Amador went 3 for 4 with an RBI with Sebastion Elizalde and Carlos Gastelum both driving in runs for the Naranjeros. Heber Gomez was 2 for 4 with an RBI for the Venados.

Ciudad de Obregon 5, Navojoa 0

Christian Villanueva hit a 2 run home run in the bottom of the 1st inning, his 4th of the year, to lead the Yaquis to a 5-0 whitewash of the Mayos. Victor Arano (2-0) picked up the win in relief while the Navojoa starter, Daniel Gutierrez (0-1), took the loss. Villanueva, Asael Sanchez, Iker Franco and Luis Urias were all 2 for 4 for the Yaquis. Jesus Castillo went 2 for 4 for the Mayos.

Naranjeros Fall to 0-5; Squeezed by Charros 5-2

The Charros de Jalisco peeled back the Naranjeros, sweeping Hermosillo in their three game series that dropped the Naranjeros to 0-5 on the year. Jalisco improved to 4-1 and sit atop the Liga Mexicana del Pacifico standings.

Starting pitcher Daniel Guerrero (1-0) threw 5 shutout innings giving up just 2 hits while striking out 4. Brian Broderick picked up his 3rd save of the young season, pitching the 9th to preserve the win for Guerrero. Edgar Gonzalez (0-2) suffered the loss for Hermosillo.

Jalisco played small ball, with just 3 of their 11 hits going for extra bases and an error by the Naranjeros led to an unearned run. The Charros did commit their first error of the year, a fielding error by first baseman Max Muncy in the 3rd inning.

The scoring began for the Charros in the top of the 3rd when Max Muncy singled to left and moved to second on a wild pitch. Muncy would score on a single to right by Alex Liddi that gave a 1-0 lead to Jalisco.

The Charros added a run in the 6th inning on a one out single by Japhet Amador, a walk to Alex Liddi and a single by Edson Garcia that plated Amador for the 2-0 lead.

Gabriel Gutierrez drew a lead off walk in the top of the 7th, moved to second on a ground out and scored when the Hermosillo pitcher threw wildly to first on a ground ball hit by Eduardo Arredondo that gave the Charros a 3-0 lead without benefit of a hit in the inning.

Jose Amador, first pitch swinging, hit a solo home run in the bottom of the 7th inning to left center that easily cleared the wall and cut the Charros lead to 3-1.

Japhet Amador drew a lead off base on balls in the top of the 8th. Amadeo Zazueta was brought in to run for "El Gigante" and went to third on a double by Max Muncy. Edson Garcia drove in Zazueta with a sac fly to center and increased the Charros lead to 4-1.

Jorge Flores and Jose Cardona hit consecutive singles to lead off the bottom of the 8th for the Naranjeros and moved up on a sacrifice bunt by Carlos Gastelum. Flores scored on a ground out by Sebastion Elizalde to draw within 2 runs of the Charros at 4-2.

Eduardo Arredondo hit a one out double in the top of the 9th and scored on a single to right by Manny Rodriguez that completed the scoring and the final 5-2 Charros victory.

The Charros are off on Thursday but begin a 3 game series against the Tomateros de Culiacan on Friday the 16th of October.

Los Mochis 10, Culiacan 4

The Caneros scored 6 runs in the 4th inning and went on to beat the Tomateros 10-4 in Culican. Los Mochis had 17 hits in the game including 7 doubles and a triple. DH Saul Soto was 3 for 5 with 2 doubles and 2 RBIs. Jesus Arredondo was also 3 for 5 with 2 RBIs. Luis Borges went 2 for 4 with a double and a home run for the Tomateros. Thomas Melgarejo (1-0) got the win and Jorge Gonzalez (0-1) took the loss for Culican.

Navojoa 4, Mazatlán 2

Hector Velazquez (1-0) worked 7 innings allowing 2 runs on 7 hits and striking out 5 as the Mayos topped the Venados 4-2 in front of 4,482 hometown fans. Esteban Haro recorded his 1st save for Navojoa. Francisco Lizarraga (1-1) was charged with a blown save and the loss for Mazatlán. Diego Madero and Lance Zawadski were both 2 for 3 for the Mayos. Esteban Quiroz was 3 for 4 with an RBI and Olmo Rosario 2 for 4 with an RBI for the Venados.

Carlos Valencia went 2 for 3 with 3 RBIs and Christian Villanueva 3 for 3 with 3 runs scored as the Yaquis beat the Aguilas 5-3 in Mexicali. Yunesky Betancourt was 2 for 2 with 2 walks, a home run, an RBI and 2 runs scored in the loss for the Aguilas. Ramon Delgado (1-0) gave up a run on 2 hits in 5 1/3 innings to get the win. Charros Continue Winning; Shutout Hermosillo 3-0

The Charros got a strong outing from Orlando Lara and the bullpen worked 3 scoreless innings giving up just 1 hit, walking none and striking out 2 in beating the Naranjeros de Hermosillo 3-0

Lara (1-0) got the win and Brian Broderick, LMP Reliever of the Year in 2014,  picked up his second save of the young season as the Charros improved to 3-1 on the year.

Nate Reed (0-1) pitched 5 innings for Hermosillo in the loss, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits while walking 1 and striking out 2 Charros.

The Charros have played errorless ball through the first four games, a total of 35 innings. The combination of good pitching, good hitting and excellent defense should win many games for Jalisco this year.

Leo Heras got things going for the Charros in the top of the 2nd inning with a one out double to right. Heras stopped at third on a single by Jesus Lopez and scored on a perfectly executed squeeze bunt by Eduardo Arredondo to give the Charros a 1-0 lead.

Japhet Amador singled with one out in the 3rd and went to third on an infield error by the Naranjeros first baseman on a ball hit by Max Muncy. Amador scored on a double to left center by Alex Liddi with Muncy stopping at third. Muncy scored on a grounder to second by Leo Heras and the Charros led 3-0. The last 6 innings were scoreless and the Charros won the game by that score.

Japhet Amador raised his batting average to ,500 by going 3 for 4 on the night with a run scored. Alex Liddi, Leo Heras and Eduardo Arredondo had the 3 RBIs for the Charros.

Sebastion Elizalde went 1 for 4 for the Naranjeros and is hitting .500 for Hermosillo.

The Caneros scored 3 runs in the 9th inning to tie the game and 3 more times in the 10th to top the Tomateros 8-5. Yoan Pedroso went 2 for 5 with a 3 run home run in the 10th for Los Mochis. Ali Solis and Jorge Cantu homered for the Tomateros. Juan Noriega (1-0) got the win and Andres Avila his second save for the Caneros while Jesus Castillo took the loss for Culiacan. Oscar Villarreal was charged with a blown save.

Navojoa 6, Mazatlán 5 (10 innings)

Navojoa scored 4 runs in the 5th inning to tie the game and needed a run in the bottom of the 9th to send the game into extra innings. Glynn Davis' squeeze bunt went for a singled with one out in the bottom of the 10th to score Alan Sanchez for the walk off win. Ozzie Mendez (1-0) got the win while Manny Delcarmen (0-1) took the loss. Steven Hensley was charged with a blown save. Fernando Flores went 3 for 5 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored and Lance Zawadski hit a home run for the Mayos. Carlos Munoz was 2 for 4 with a double and a home run for the Venados.

Mexicali 8, Ciudad de Oregon 7

The Aguilas erupted for 5 runs in the 7th inning and held on to beat the Yaquis 8-7. Jose Lopez (1-0) was credited with the win and Adam Refer got his second save of the year for Mexicali. The teams combined to use 16 pitchers in the game.The Aguilas used 9 pitchers while the Yaquis used 7. Mark Hamburger (1-1) was charged with a blown save and took the loss. Yunesky Betancourt went 2 for 5 with a home run and 3 RBIs while Wellington Dtel was 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs for the Aguilas. Asael Sanchez was 3 for 5 with a triple and 2 RBIs for the Yaquis and Roman Pena was 2 for 3 with an RBI.
