The Mayos pitchers didn't allow a run until the 9th inning, holding the Venados to 3 hits in the first 8 innings, while waiting for the offense. Navojoa needed that effort because the Mazatlan held the Mayos scoreless until the 6th inning.
Navojoa took a 2-0 lead in the top of the 8th on a single by Alonzo Harris and a single to right by Elmer Reyes that put runners at first and third with no outs. Victor Mendoza ground into a double play that scored Harris as the Mayos added an insurance run.
