Aguilas Shut out Again as Venados Win 6-0

MEXICALI SCORELESS IN 3 OF THEIR LAST 5 GAMES

The Venados jumped on top early scoring twice in the top of the 2nd. Alex Liddi began the inning with a single and Anthony Giansanti drew a walk. A fly ball out advanced both runners. With runners at second and third, a single by Jesus Fabela scored Liddi and Giansanti for the 2-0 Mazatlan lead.

Sebastian Valle launched a 2 run home run to left in the 4th that scored Fabela. Kenny Wilson followed with a single, stole second and scored on a single by Edson Garcia to increase the Venados lead to 5-0.

Mazatlan added a run in the 8th. Valle was hit by a pitch with 2 outs. Wilson singled and a single by Sherman Johnson scored Valle with the 6th and final run of the night. The Venados had the 6-0 shutout and improved to 11-8 on the season. This win, coupled with the Charros loss to Culiacan gives the Venados a share of 1st place in the LMP.

Konner Wade (3-0) tossed 6 innings of 3 hit shutout baseball while striking out 5. Frankie De La Cruz (0-1), on the other hand, gave up 5 runs on 5 hits and walked 3 in 3 1/3 innings on the mound to take the loss as the Aguilas fell to 8-10 on the year.

Mazatlan Remains Undefeated with 5-1 Win Over Obregon

SEBASTIAN VALLE HOMERS IN CONSECUTIVE GAMES

Sebastian Valle homered for the second time in two games, this one a a 2 run shot to left with Asael Sanchez aboard, as the Venados improved to 4-0 on the year with their 5-1 win over the Yaquis de Obregon. The Yaquis fell to 1-3 with the loss.

The Venados used a run scoring single by Alex Liddi, a sac fly to left by Jose Luna and a single by Kenny Wilson to build a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the 2nd inning.

Obregon would score it's lone run in the top of the 8th inning. Leo Heras doubled to begin the inning and went to third when the Venados' right fielder misplayed to ball. Heras scored on a ground ball out by John Nogowski for the final 5-1 score.

Eduardo Vera (1-0) pitched 5 innings of shutout baseball, giving up 2 hits while striking out 7 to get the win. Joe Van Meter (0-1) allowed all 5 runs, including the home run to Valle, on 7 hits in 3 1/3 innings of work to take the loss.

Venados Score early Best Yaquis 4-1

SEBASTIAN VALLE HITS 2 RUN HOME RUN IN WIN

Konner Wade (1-0) scattered 3 hits and gave up a run over 5 innings while striking out 3 in getting the win. 4 Relievers allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3 innings and closer Evan Marshall pitched a perfect 9th inning to earn the save. Tommy Collier (0-1) gave up 4 runs on 6 hits in 2 2/3 innings in taking the loss.

Sebastian Valle's home run in the 2nd inning, with Asael Sanchez aboard, gave the Venados a 2-0 lead. Mazatlan added 2 more runs in the bottom of the 3rd on an RBI double by Sanchez and a run scoring single by Alex Liddi.

Leo Heras tripled with 1 out in the top of the 5th for Obregon and scored on a fielding error by the Venados first baseman to cut the lead to 4-1 but the Yaquis would score no more.

Valle was 1 for 3 with the home run and 2 RBIs for Mazatlan and team mate Sanchez went 1 for 3 with and RBI and 2 runs scored.

Leo Harris was 1 for 3 with a run scored and lead off man Daniel Robertson was 2 for 4 in the loss.

Mazatlan remained undefeated on the season at 3-0 as the Yaquis fell to 1-2,

Leones Win Game 6 Over Guerreros 2-0

EVEN 1st ROUND ZONA SUR SERIES AT 3 GAMES APIECE

Four Leones pitchers, from starter Jorge Reyes (1-0) to Chad Gaudin shut down the Guerreros de Oaxaca for 9 innings on 5 hits with no runs for the 2-0 win. The game was not without drama though. The top of the 9th was quite nerve wracking for the 6,049 fans in attendance at Parque Kukulkan in Merida.

Chad Gaudin, although earning the save, made things interesting for the Leones in the inning. Gaudin caught Jay Austin looking for the 1st out. Yuniesky Betancourt singled with a single. (Betancourt had 3 of the 5 hits for Oaxaca) Henry Urrutia doubled to left with Betancourt stopping at third. Dustin Geiger then waited out a base on balls, loading the bases with 1 out. Orlando Pina then popped up to second, the infield fly rule was called. for the 2nd out. Samar Leyva struck out swinging for the 3rd out that ended the threat and the game.

Sebastian Valle gave the Leones pitching all the run support they would need with one swing of the bat. Eric Aguilera led off the bottom of the 4th for Yucatan with a single to center. Jose Aguilar laid down a sacrifice bunt that moved Aguilera to second. Valle then took an 0-2 pitch from Delgado deep to left center, scoring Aguilera and giving Yucatan a 2-0 lead.

Irwin Delgado (0-1) pitched a complete game for Oaxaca allowing the 2 runs on 8 hits with a walk and 3 strikeouts in taking the loss.

These two teams meet again on Wednesday for the deciding 7th game of their 1st round Zona Sur playoffs to determine who will face the Diablos Rojos del Mexico in the Zona Sur Championship round.

Leones Top Guerreros 10-5 to even 1st Round Zona Sur Series at 2 Games Apiece

FINAL 3 INNINGS TOO MUCH FOR OAXACA

The Leones de Yucatan started early, with 2 runs in the top of the 1st innibg, and finished strong with 6 runs over the final 3 innings in beating the Guerreros de Oaxaca 10-5. With the win, the Leones evened their Zona Sur 1st round  playoff series at 2 games apiece.

Yucatan pounded out 17 hits in the contest, with each starter getting at least 1 hit. The 1 through 5 hitters were 11 for 21, a .524 clip, with 3 extra base hits and 6 RBIs.

Oaxaca held a 5-4 lead after 5 innings but Yucatan scored 6 unanswered runs over the last 3 innings to take the win.

Walter Ibarra and Leo Heras homered for the Leones and accounted for 3 RBIs and 6 runs scored in the game. Heras also walked twice. The patient Yucatan hitters drew 6 walks in addition to their 17 hits in the game. Ibarra was 2 for 6 and Heras 2 for 4. Humberto Sosa went 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs and a rub scored while Jose Aguilar and Everth Cabrera were both 2 fr 5 for Yucatan.

Samar Leyva saw his batting average rise to .308 on a 2 for 3 night with 3 runs scored for Oaxaca and Julian Ornelas was 2 for 5 with a run scored for the Guerreros.

The Leones, after falling behind 5-4, scored twice in the top of the 7th inning. With 1 out, Luis Juarez singled and Humberto Sosa doubled to put runners on second and third. Eric Aguilera struck out but Jose Aguilar singled to drive in Juarez. Sebastian Valle followed with a single  to score Sosa and the Leones had the lead for good at 6-5.

Two runs in the 8th inning and 2 more in the 9th put the game away.

Leones de Yucatan Top Guerreros de Oaxaca 3-1 in LMB Zona Sur Playoff Matchup

AN EARLY GAME CAUSED BY RAINOUT ON THURSDAY

The Leones took game 3 of their Zona Sur 1st round playoff series against the Guerreros de Oaxaca with a 3-1 victory in front of 3,000 fans in Oaxaca. The Guerreros now lead the best-of-7 series 2 games to 1,

Cesar Valdez (1-0) went 7 innings on the hill for Yucatan, surrendering 1 run on 6 hits with 1 walk and 5 strikeouts. Chad Gaudin pitched a perfect 9th inning to record his 1st save of the playoffs.

Ruddy Acosta (0-1) gave up 2 runs on 6 hits over 5 2/3 innings to take the loss for Oaxaca.

Yucatan scored in the 3rd inning on a walk to Jose Aguilar, a single by Hector Hernandez one out later and a run scoring single by Walter Ibarra with 2 outs.

The Leones added a run in the 5th on a single by Aguilar and a double by Sebastian Valle for the 2-0 lead.

Oaxaca scored their lone run in the bottom of the 6th inning on a single by Yordanys Linares, a ground ball out that moved Linares to second, a single by Yuniesky Betancourt and a ground ball out by Dustin Geiger that scored Linares from third.

An error by the Guerreros 3rd baseman allowed Jonathan Jones to score from third with an insurance run for the Leones in the 8th inning. That was all that was needed as Gaudin set the Guerreros down in order in the 9th to preserve the win.

Caneros Shutout Charros 6-0 On Excellent Pitching By Terance Marin

The Caneros de Los Mochis took the third game of the three game series with jalisco, 6-0, behind the outstanding pitching of starter Terance Marin and reliever Andres Avila.

Orlando Lara, of the Charros had a one hitter through four innings. Lara gave up a lead off walk to Yancarlo Angulo to lead off the 5th. Angulo moved up on a sacrifice bunt by Sebastian Valle and scored two batters later on a single by Justin Christian. The Caneros led 1-0.

Terance Marin was pitching a no-hitter until Eduardo Arredondo singled with two outs in the bottom of the 6th. The Charros could not take advantage of the base runner as Manny Rodriguez struck out to end the inning with the Caneros still leading 1-0.

The Caneros added to their lead in the top of the 8th. Greg Golson singled to center to lead off the inning. Juan Gamboa advanced Golson on a sacrifice bunt. Juan Pedroso walked. Adrian Ramirez replaced Mario Mendoza for the Charros and walked Ramon Orantes to load the bases. One batter later, Gloson scored on a single by Yancarlo Angulo. Sebastian Valle then cleared the bases on a grand slam home run to deep center to give the Caneros a 6-1 lead that would hold for the victory.

Jalisco managed just three hits off of Terance Marin and reliever Andres Avila and Eduardo Arredondo had two of them, going 2 for 4 in the loss. The Charros struck out 7 times and didn't receive a free pass all game. Marin picked up the win to move to 1-1 on the year, while Orlando lara took the loss to fall to 4-2 on the season. Lara went 6 2/3 innings giving up just three hits but walking 4 and striking out 4. Charros reliever Adrian Ramirez gave up the grand slam to Sebastian Valle.

The Charros fall to 26-18 overall and 5-4 in the second half of the Liga de Mexicana del Pacifico while the Caneros climb to 24-20 overall.
