Mexicali Evens Series with Charros With 3-2 Win

VINNY NITTOLI SCATTERS 5 HITS IN WIN

The Aguilas starter, Vinny Nittoli (2-0), scattered 5 hits over 6 innings, giving up 2 runs while walking 1 and striking out 8. Newly reactivated reliever Jake Sanchez earned his 3rd save of the year with a perfect 9th. Octavio Acosta (1-1) took the loss for Jalisco.

Colin Walsh singled to lead off the 2nd for Mexicali. Xorge Carrillo singled to put runners on first and second with no outs. Ricky Alvarez singled to center to drive in Walsh for the early 1-0 lead.

Daric Barton stroked a one out single to right in the Charros' half of the 2nd and scored in front of a home run to left center by Dariel Alvarez to give Jalisco a 2-1 lead.

Mexicali tied the game at 2 on a single by Juan Perez and a run scoring double by David Harris.

The Aguilas took the lead for good in the top of the 5th on a David Harris and a 2 out single by Colin Walsh.

Harris was 3 for 3 on the night with a walk, an RBI and a run scored for the Aguilas while team mate Ricky Alvarez went 2 for 4 with an RBI.

Daric Barton went 2 for 3 with a walk and a run scored as Dariel Alvarez was 1 for 4 with the home run and 2 RBIs for Jalisco.

With the loss, the Charros fell to 7-6 as the Aguilas improved to 6-6 on the season.

Charros Top Caneros 4-2

OCTAVIO ACOSTA 6 INNINGS, 3 HITS AND 2 RUNS FOR JALISCO

Octavio Acosta (1-0) and 6 relievers allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, walked none and struck out 7 in beating the Caneros de Los Mochis 4-2. Grant Sides gave up a double to Leandro Castro in the 9th but struck out Jay Gonzalez for the last out to earn the save. Chris Huffman (0-2) took the loss for the Caneros.

Daniel Carbonell led off the game with a single and the next batter, Amadeo Zazueta was hit by a pitch. Both runners advanced on a wild pitch. Carbonell scored on a sac fly and Zazueta scored on a single by Dariel Alvarez to give the Charros the 2-0 lead after the top of the 1st.

Los Mochis tied the game in the 3rd. With 1 out, Genaro Andrade doubled and scored ahead of a long home run by Jonathan Jones to deep left center. Score tied at 2.

Jalisco retook the lead in the top of the 6th on a solo home run by Manny Rodriguez.

The Charros loaded the bases in the top of the 9th with 2 outs. Alberto Carreon drew a 4 pitch walk to force in Carlos Figueroa but Santiago Chavez flew out to right to end the inning.

Jalisco took 2 of the 3 games with Los Mochis and improved to 5-3 on the season as the Caberos fell to 3-5.

Los Mochis Over Jalisco 7-5

The Charros jumped out to a 3-2 lead after 2 innings but the Caneros got to starter Orlando Lara
(0-2) for 4 runs in the bottom of the 4th to pull ahead and then hold on for the 7-5 win. The victory by Los Mochis snapped the Charros 4 game winning streak.

Dariel Alvarez started the scoring for Jalisco with a lead off solo home run on the first pitch he saw in the top of the 2nd. The next batter, Daric Barton drew a walk and scored on a home run to left by Niko Vasquez. that gave the Charros a 3-0 lead.

The Caneros got cut the lead to 3-2 and in the bottom half of the 4th Jay Gonzalez singled, stole second, went to third on a wild pitch and scored on a single by Josaun Hernandez to tied the game. Hernandez stole second. With 2 outs, Lara hit Jonathan Jones with a pitch. A single by Isaac Salazar scored Hernandez. Everth Cabrera doubled to score Jones and Salazar as the Caneros took a 6-3 lead.

Jalisco scored twice in the 7th to pull within a run at 6-5 but the Caneros scored in their half of the inning for the 7-5 win.

Lara was charged with the loss. Jonathan Castellanos (1-0) picked up the win in relief and Yoannys Quiala earned his first save of the young season.

The Charros fell to 4-3 on the year with the Caneros improving to 3-4.

Charros Top Caneros de Los Mochis 6-1

Jalisco jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the 2nd inning and never looked back, adding runs in the 7th and 8th innings, on their way to their 4th win in a row topping the Caneros 6-1. Elian Leyva (1-0) tossed 6 innings of 1 run ball to hold the Caneros in check as 3 Charros relievers held Los Mochis scoreless over the final 3 innings.

Japhet Amador started things off in the 2nd inning with a lead off solo home run. Dariel Alvarez followed with a double and scored on a single by Niko Vazquez. Vasquez was awarded second on the play due to interference by the Caneros pitcher. Gabriel Gutierrez singled to plate Vasquez to give Jalisco the early lead.

Isaac Rodriguez drew a 1 out walk in the bottom of the 4th for Los Mochis and went to second on a single by Ramon Urias. Rodriguez scored on a single by Leandro Castro to cut the lead to 3-1 but that would be all the scoring for the Caneros.

The Charros added a run in the 7th and 2 more in the 8th to achieve to final 6-1 score.

Luis Perez (0-2) gave up 5 runs on 7 hits in 6 1/3 innings of work in taking the loss.

With a 4 game winning streak, the Charros improved to 4-2 on the season while the Caneros fell to 2-4

Jalisco Sweeps 3 Game Series From Hermosillo With 5-3 Win

TEAMS COMBINE FOR 68 HITS AND 38 RUNS IN 3 GAMES

The Charros de Jalisco completed their 3 game sweep of the visiting Naranjeros with a 5-3 win on Thursday. The hitters series continued with both teams collecting 10 hits. The Charros improved their record to 3-2 on the season while Hermosillo remains winless at 0-5.

Eric Young Jr. started things off for Hermosillo by reaching safely on a fielding error. Young went to third on an errant pickoff attempt and scored on a sac fly to left by Danny Espinosa.

Jalisco took the lead in the bottom of the 3rd. Kevin Medrano singled and went to second on a single by Gabriel Gutierrez. A sacrifice bunt by Carlos Figueroa advanced both runners. Medrano scored on a fielders choice and Gutierrez came home on a force out by Manny Rodriguez.

The Charros added a run in the 4th on a triple by Dariel Alvarez and a single by Niko Vasquez and another run in the 6th on a fielding error and 2 singles for the 4-1 lead.

Hermosillo scored in the top of the 8th when Danny Espinosa was ruled safe at first on a ground ball and scored on a double by Jose Amador. After a walk to Roberto Ramos, Amador scored on a double to left by Cedric Hunter.

Dariel Alvarez took an 0-1 pitch deep to left for a solo home run in the Charros half of the 8th for the final run in the 5-3 win.

Newly acquired pitcher, Vince Molesky (1-0), threw 5 innings of 1 run ball to get the win for the Charros and Grant Sides earned his 2nd save. Arturo Reyes (0-1) gave up 3 runs on 6 hits over 5 innings to take the loss.
