Caneros Come From Behind to Hand Mayos a 9-6 Loss in 10 Innings

The Mayos led the Caneros 6-4 after scoring a run in the top of the 9th. But the Caneros scored twice in the 9th to tie the game and got a walk off 3 run home run by Josuan Hernandez in the 10th to stun the Navojoa 9-6.

Leandro castro doubled to lead off the 9th for Los Mochis. Josuan Hernandez was hit by a pitch and both runners advanced on a sacrifice bunt. A double by Jay Gonzalez scored Castro and Hernandez to tie the game at 6.

With one out in the bottom of the 10th, Isaac Rodriguez doubled and Leandro Castro was intentionally walked. Following a mound visit, Hernandez took a 1-0 pitch to deep left for the walk off 3 run home run and the Caneros win.

The 1 through 3 hitters for Los Mochis were 8 for 16 with 6 RBIs and 8 runs scored. Isaac Rodriguez was 3 for 6, Castro 3 for 5 with 2 RBIs and 4 runs scored  and Hernandez 2 for 5 with the walk off home run and 2 runs scored.

Victor Mendoza went 4 for 5 for the Mayos with an RBI and 2 runs scored, Elmer Reyes 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs and Paul Leon 2 for 4 with an RBI.

The Caneros used 10 pitchers in the game with Andres Avila getting the win. The Mayos had 8 pitchers take the mound with closer Jesus Pirela charged with a blown save and Demetrio Gutierrez (0-2) taking the loss.

Los Mochis in a Barn Burner Over Navojoa 9-7

In a game that would never be confused with a pitchers duel, the Caneros outlasted the Mayos 9-7. The two teams used a total of 15 pitchers, 7 by the Mayos and 8 by the Caneros. 25 hits, 15 walks, a wild pitch and a balk later the game was over with the Los Mochis win.

Isaac Salazar singled to lead off the bottom of the 1st and scored on a home run to left center by Leandro Castro for the quick 2-0 Caneros lead. Los Mochis would score twice more in the inning to increase their lead to 4-0 after one.

Los Mochis added a run in the bottom of the second and one more in the 5th to take a 6-0 lead into the 6th inning.

Victor Mendoza hit a solo home run in the top of the 6th to cut the lead to 6-1.

Josuan Mendoza ripped a 2 run home run to left center for the Caneros in the bottom of the 6th to up the Los Mochis lead to 8-1.

Not to be outdone, Jovan Rosa hit his 4th home run of the season, a 3 run shot that cut the lead to 8-4. Two batters later, Marc Flores homered to drive in Luis Fonseca and the Caneros lead had dwindled to 8-6.

Genaro Andrade added an insurance run for the Caneros in the bottom of the 7th with a solo home run to up the lead to 9-6.

With one out in the top of the 9th, Paul Leon singled and stopped at second on a single by Omar Renteria. A wild pitch moved both runners up a base. Alejandro Gonzalez hit a ground ball out to score Leon to make it a 9-7 game but the Mayos would not score again ant Los Mochis had the 9-7 win.

Luis Perez (1-3) got the win with Andres Avila earning his 7th save of the year. Raul Carrillo took the loss.

Los Mochis Defeats Hermosillo 6-1

The Caneros de Los Mochis built a 6-0 lead after four innings and the pitching staff did the rest. Yoanys Quiala (2-0) threw 6 innings of 1 run ball, his only mistake a home run ball to Eric Young Jr. in the 5th. Three relief pitchers finished the job allowing no runs and no hits over the final 3 innings.

Saul Soto launched the first of his two home runs on the night in the bottom of the 2nd with a man on that gave the Caneros a 2-0 lead.

Los Mochis added a run in the 3rd on a single off the bat of Leandro Castro that scored Everth Cabrera for the 3-0 lead.

Soto led off the bottom of the 4th with a solo home run to deep left center, his 4th home run of the year. Three batters later, Cabrera hit a 2 run home run to right to give Los Mochis a 6-0 lead.

Young's home run in the 5th was hardly enough and the Naranjeros fell to Los Mochis 6-1.

Soto was 2 for 4 with the 2 home runs, 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored for the Caneros while team mate Jesus Arredondo was 2 for 4 with a run scored.

Obregon Pounds Los Mochis 8-3

The Caneros scored early. Isaac Salazar began the game with a single. One out later, Ramon Urias singled as did Leandro . With the bases loaded and 1 outs, Salazar scored on a fielder's choice as Los Mochis took a 1-0 lead.

The Yaquis sent 9 men to the plate in the bottom half of the 1st and 6 of them scored as Obregon broke open the game. Daniel Robertson and Jose Aguilar began the inning by drawing walks. Cheslor Cuthbert hit a ground rule double that scored Robertson. Aguilar scored on a ground ball out and John Nogowski hit a 2 run home run to left for a 4-1 lead. Juan Carlos Gamboa scored on a wild pitch and Jose Felix scored on a single by Richy Pedroza to make it 6-1 after one.

Los Mochis scored twice in the 3rd on a walk, a triple by Leandro Castro and a sac fly by Saul Soto to trim the lead to 6-3.

Obregon put the game away with 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th.

Dustin Antolin (1-0) picked up the win in relief of starter Nate Reed who failed to go the required 5 innings to qualify for the win. Luis Perez (0-3) gave up 6 runs on 4 hits and lasted just 2/3 of an inning to take the loss.

Both teams are 8-8 on the season.

Aguilas top Caneros in 10 Innings

The game started off as if it were going to be a barn burner. Leandro Castro hit a 2 run home run in the top of the 1st for the Caneros and Daniel Harris hit a 2 run shot to right center in the Aguilas half of the inning for a 2-2 tie after 1 inning.

Los Mochis  added a run in the 3rd on a double by Isaac Salazar and a single by Everth Cabrera for the 3-2 lead.

The Aguilas matched that in the bottom of the 4th on a walk to Colin Walsh, a single off the bat of Carlos Rodriguez and a single by Ricardo Serrano that scored Walsh to tie the game at 3.

Mexicali grabbed the lead at 4-3 on back-to-back doubles by Jason Bourgeois and Harris in the bottom of the 7th but the Caneros came back with a solo home run by Castro, his second homer of the game, that tied the score at 4.

Xorge Carrillo led off the bottom of the 10th for the Aguilas by drawing a walk. Carrillo moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. Carlos Rodriguez was hit by a pitch to put runners on first and second with 1 out. After a strikeout foe the second out, Daniel Castro came through with a walk off single that scored Carrillo with the winning run.

Edgar Gomes (1-0) picked up the win in relief while Santiago Gutierrez (0-1) was charged with the loss.

Los Mochis fell to 5-6 on the season as the Aguilas improved to 5-5.

Charros Top Caneros de Los Mochis 6-1

Jalisco jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the 2nd inning and never looked back, adding runs in the 7th and 8th innings, on their way to their 4th win in a row topping the Caneros 6-1. Elian Leyva (1-0) tossed 6 innings of 1 run ball to hold the Caneros in check as 3 Charros relievers held Los Mochis scoreless over the final 3 innings.

Japhet Amador started things off in the 2nd inning with a lead off solo home run. Dariel Alvarez followed with a double and scored on a single by Niko Vazquez. Vasquez was awarded second on the play due to interference by the Caneros pitcher. Gabriel Gutierrez singled to plate Vasquez to give Jalisco the early lead.

Isaac Rodriguez drew a 1 out walk in the bottom of the 4th for Los Mochis and went to second on a single by Ramon Urias. Rodriguez scored on a single by Leandro Castro to cut the lead to 3-1 but that would be all the scoring for the Caneros.

The Charros added a run in the 7th and 2 more in the 8th to achieve to final 6-1 score.

Luis Perez (0-2) gave up 5 runs on 7 hits in 6 1/3 innings of work in taking the loss.

With a 4 game winning streak, the Charros improved to 4-2 on the season while the Caneros fell to 2-4

Los Mochis Survives 4 Run 9th Inning to Top Tomateros 6-5

Culiacan's Issmael Salas got things going in the bottom of the 9th by reaching on an error by the Caneros second baseman. Jose Orozco singled with Salas stopping at second. A slow roller to third by Roemon Fields loaded the bases with no outs. Rico Noel doubled to drive in Salas and Orozco. Dylan Moore singled on a ball to deep short that scored Fields with Noel moving to third. A sac fly to center by Henry Ramos scored Noel as Moore went to second. The Tomateros had cut the lead to 6-5 with a man on second and 1 out. A fly ball out and a 4-3 ground ball ended the threat and the game.

John Anderson (1-0) pitched 5 strong innings for Los Mochis, giving up a run on 2 hits to get the win.  Andres Avila earned his first save. Yoannys Quiala gave up 4 runs in the 9th without recording an out to make the game closer than it should have been. Romario Gil (0-1) lasted just 2 innings and allowed 4 runs on 1 hit with 5 walks in taking the loss.

Ramon Urias and Leandro Castro both homered for the Caneros and drove in 5 runs. Urias was 1 for 3 with 2 walks and 2 RBIs while Castro went 2 for 5 with 3 RBIs.

Rico Noel was 2 for 4 with a walk and 2 RBIs for Culiacan while team mate Dylan Moore was 3 for 5 with an RBI.

Los Mochis improved to 2-3 on the season while the Tomateros fell to 3-2.

Tomateros Smother Caneros de Los Mochis 6-1

5 Culiacan pitchers held the Caneros to 5 hits and no runs before closer Derrick Loop gave up a triple to Leandro Castro and a sac fly to left by Jay Gonzalez to spoil the scoreless contest. That score came in the top of the 9th with the game well in hand.

With out in the Tomateros half of the 6th, Henry Ramos walked. One out later, Ryan McBroom singled to center. Ronnier Mustelier took ball four on a 3-2 pitch to load the bases. Issmael Salas then launched an 0-1 pitch to left for the grand slam that gave Culiacan a 4-0 led.

The Tomateros added single runs in the 7th and 8th innings to build a 6-0 lead headed into the top of the 9th.

Culiacan pitchers struck out 9 Caneros and walked only 1. Los Mochis' hurlers, on the other hand, walked 7 and struck out 1 Tomatero. Mauricio Lara (1-0) worked  a third of an inning in relief to get the win. Chris Huffman (0-1) gave up the grand slam in his 6 innings on the mound to take the loss.

12.319 fans watched the game in Estadio de los Tomateros and saw the home town team improve to 2-1 on the season while the previously unbeaten Caneros fell to 2-1.

Naranjeros Crush Charros 11-3

Jose Amador, the Hermosillo designated hitter, was 1 for 4 last night but that 1 hit was a big one, a grand slam home run in the 5th. Luis Garcia added a solo home run in the inning as the Naranjeros scored 7 runs and cruised to an 11-3 win.

Hermosillo scored 3 more runs in the 6th and drove the dagger to the hilt with a run in the 7th.

Art Charles hit a 2 run home run with 2 outs in the 9th inning for the Charros to make the game a little less embarrassing but the game was effectively over after 7 innings.

The Charros managed 8 hits but the team was 2 for 11 with runners in scoring position although Japhet Amador and Charles each drove in runners.

Octavio Acosta (0-1), the Charros starter, pitched 4 innings, giving up 4 hits and 4 runs. He struck out 7 but walked 3 batters, including a lead off walk in the top of the 5th. The 2 relievers following Acosta in the 5th failed to record an out, allowed 2 hits (both home runs) and 3 runs.

Pablo Ortega (1-0) scattered 5 Charros hits and struck out 4 while giving up a run in 6 innings on the mound for Hermosillo.

The final game of the series against the Naranjeros is today, Thursday, before the Charros travel to Navojoa for 3 games beginning on Friday.

Blake Beavan (2-0) pitched 6 innings, scattering 5 hits over those innings, allowing 3 runs in picking up the win and Ryan Kelly picked up his 5th save in the 6-4 win for the Yaquis. Raul Carrillo (0-1) gave up the go ahead run in the 6th inning to take the loss. Quincy Latimore homered for the Mayos and went 3 for 4 with an RBI and a 2 runs scored. Joey Wendle was 2 for 5 with a triple, an RBI and 2 runs scored for Obregon.

Los Mochis 4, Mexicali 1

Leandro Castro doubled and homered in his 4 at bats for the Caneros, driving in a run and scoring a run in the Los Mochis 4-1 win over the Aguilas. Guillermo Trujillo (1-1) went 7 innings giving up 4 hits and a run and Jon Sintes earned his 6th save. Efren Delgado (2-2) pitched well but took the loss. Ramon Rios went 1 for 4 with a double and an RBI for Mexicali.

Culiacan 5, Mazatlán 4 (10 innings)

With the bases loaded in the bottom of the 10th inning. Ronnier Mustelier waited out a walk to force in Oscar Robles from third with the winning run for the Tomateros. Javy Guerra (1-0) picked up the win in relief for Culiacan. Manny Delcarmen was charged with a blown save and Antonio Garzon (0-1) took the loss. Iker Franco and Jose Chavez homered for Culiacan and Hector Paez was 2 for 4 with a home run for the Venados.

Jalisco Tops Mexicali 5-4

The Charros got good pitching from starter Octavio Acosta, although Acosta did not figure in the win he allowed a single run on 2 hits and struck out 5 over 4 1/3 innings, and offense from Michael Choice to beat the Aguilas 5-4.

Julio Felix (1-0) got the win in relief and Aaron Kurcz notched his 4th save of the year, pitching the last 1 1/3 innings for Jalisco.

Miguel Pena (0-1) worked 2 2/3 innings for Mexicali giving up 3 runs on 3 hits, walking 4 and striking out 3. The Charros struck out 11 times against the Aguilas pitchers.

Choice sent a 1 out fastball deep to left center for a solo home run in the top of the 2nd inning that gave the Charros an early 1-0 lead.

With 2 outs Jalisco loaded the bases in the 3rd inning on a walk to Carlos Figueroa, a single by Manny Rodriguez and an Agustin Murillo hit by pitch. Choice then drew a base on balls to plate Figueroa. Cacao Valdez followed that with the second of his four walks on the night to bring in Rodriguez for the 3-0 Charros lead.

Mexicali got a run back in the bottom of the 4th on an Adan Munoz double and a ground ball double play by Dave Sappelt that scored Munoz and cut the lead to 3-1.

Yunesky Betancourt hit a solo home run for the Aguilas in the bottom of the 6th inning to narrow the gap to 3-2.

Art Charles singled with 1 out in the top of the 7th and advanced to second on a fielding error by the Aguilas shortstop. After the second out, Cacao Valdez singled to drive in Charles. Jonathan Aceves walked to load the bases. The Mexicali pitcher then uncorked a wild pitch that got Murillo in for the 5-2 lead.

A walk to Humberto Cota started things off for the Aguilas in the bottom of the 7th. Ramon Urias followed with a double to left. Chris Roberson singled to drive in Cota and Ricky Alvarez hit a sac fly to score Urias. The lead was down to 5-4 but the Aguilas' bats fell silent over the last 2 innings and the Charros were 5-4 winners.

Agustin Murillo raised his batting average to .468 with a 2 for 4 night at the plate, Michael Choice was 1 for 4 with the home run and 2 RBIs and Cacao Valdez 1 for 1 with 4 walks and 2 RBIs for the Charros.

Adan Munoz went 1 for 3 with an RBI and Yunesky Betancourt 1 for 3 with a home run for the Aguilas.

This is the 1st series win in 4 attempts for the Charros. One more game in Mexicali and then a weekend series against the Venados in Mazatlán.

Hermosillo 6, Culiacan 3

Mallex Smith, Jose Amador and Jorge Flores homered for the Naranjeros as Hermosillo doubled up the Tomateros 6-3. Iker Franco homered for Culiacan. Fernando Miranda (1-0) got the win in relief and Paul Sewald earned his 5th save of the year while Francisco Campos (0-1) took the loss for the Tomateros. Matt Skole was 2 for 2 with 2 walks and a run scored for Hermosillo while Joey Meneses and Issmael Salas were both 2 for 4 for Culiacan.

Los Mochis 6, Obregon 5

The league leading Caneros' Leandro Castro went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 RBIs in the 6-5 win over the Yaquis. Obregon got a home run from Carlos Valencia and a triple from Leo Heras in the loss. Santiago Gutierrez (2-0) picked up the win in relief and Jon Sintes earned his 5th save of the season. Miguel Aguilar (0-2) took the loss.

Navojoa 6, Mazatlan 5

The Venados fell to the bottom of the LMP standings at 3-10 with the 6-5 loss to the Mayos. Navojoa scored 3 times in the top of the 9th inning to overcome a Mazatlán 5-3 lead. Luis De La O (1-0) got the win and Esteban Haro picked up his 1st save of the year. Benino Prueda (0-1) was charged with a blown save and the loss. Carlos Moncrief was 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored for the Mayos. Corey Brown had a home run and 3 RBIs in 3 trips to the plate for Mazatlán.

Caneros Outlast Charros 6-4

Kyle Simon started for the Charros on Tuesday night against the Caneros de Los Mochis and lasted 2 2/3 innings before being pulled after giving up 6 runs on 8 hits as the Caneros topped the Charros 6-4.

Simon fell to 1-1 on the year with the loss and his ERA ballooned to 12.91. Seven of the 11 hits by the Caneros went for doubles.

Luis Niebla worked 6 innings for the Caneros giving up 4 runs on 7 hits and striking out 3. Niebla was pulled in the 7th inning after giving up 2 runs without recording an out. Jon Sintes picked up the save working a perfect 9th inning for Los Mochis.

Emmanuel Avila doubled in the 1st to drive in Isaac Rodriguez and JC Linares for the early 2-0 for Los Mochis.

Leandro Castro doubled to lead off the 2nd inning for the Caneros and scored on a single to right by Jesus Arredondo. 3-0 Los Mochis.

Juan Carlos Gamboa singled with one out in the top of the 3rd and went to third on a double to right  by Yadir Drake. Both runners scored on a double by JC Linares. Leandro Castro hit his second double of the game to drive in Drake as Los Mochis increased their lead to 6-0.

The Charros got on the board in their half of the 3rd. Edson Garcia singled with one out and scored on a double to center by Amadeo Zazueta. Manny Rodriguez got Zazueta home with a single and Jalisco had cut the lead to 6-2.

Art Charles drew a lead off walk for the Charros in the bottom of the 7th inning and went to second on a single by Cacao Valdez. Gabriel Gutierrez drove in both runners with a double to deep left center to get the Charros within 2 runs at 6-4.

Jalisco was unable to score again and the Caneros won the game by that 6-4 score.

Two more games against the Caneros before the Tomateros de Culiacan come to town for a weekend series beginning on Friday.

Culiacan 17, Mexicali 3

The Tomateros scored 9 times in the last 2 innings as Culiacan crushed to Aguilas 17-3. Jorge Vasquez was 2 for 2 with a home run and 3 RBIs, Ronny Mustelier 4 for 6 with 4 RBIs, Antonio Lamas 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs, Oscar Robles 2 for 4 with 3 RBIs and Iker Franco 3 for 5 with 3 RBIs for the Tomateros. Ramon Rios was 2 for 5 with a home run and 2 RBIs, Luis Juarez 3 for 4 and Wellington Dotel 2 for 4 with an RBI for the Aguilas, Edgar Gonzalez struck out 5 in 5 innings to get the win while Edgar Ozuna took the loss for Mexicali.

Hermosillo 7, Mazatlan 3

Casey Coleman won his second game of the year for the 5-1 Naranjeros working 6 innings, giving up 2 runs on 3 hits. Walter Silva was rocked for 11 hits in 4 2/3 innings to take the loss. Arturo Rodriguez was 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored and Eric Young Jr. 4 for 5 for Hermosillo. Brian Hernandez had 2 of the 6 hits for the Venados and drove in a run.

Cole Garner hit a 3 run home run in the 3rd as the Mayos scored 7 times in the inning to top the Yaquis 7-3. Alejandro Gonzalez was 3 for 3, Christian Zazueta 2 for 5 and Yosmany Guerra 2 for 5 for Navojoa. Matt Juengel went 3 for 4, Joey Wendle 2 for 4 and Justin Greene 2 for 5 for Obregon. Hector Velazquez improved to 2-0 on the year with the win and Raul Carrillo picked up his 1st save of the year for the Mayos. Rolando Valdez lasted just 2 2/3 innings in taking the loss.
