Yaquis Drop Charros 2-1 in 11 Innings
WALK OFF HIT BY PITCH DOES IN JALISCO
The Yaquis de Obregon and the Charros de Jalisco plated a 3 game series in Obregon with the Taquis taking 2 of 3. The story is this. The 2 teams played 2 extra inning games, one 14 innings and yesterday's 11 inning contest scoring just 5 runs in 34 innings. To have the game yesterday end on a walk off Hit By Pitch seems to be a travesty of justice.
Jalisco won the 1st game of the series 1-0 in regulation. Obregon took game 2 by a 1-0 score in 14 innings on a walk off slow roller to third and the Yaquis needed 11 innings to come away with the win in game 3.The series did nothing to help with batting averages but helped immensely with ERAs.
The teams used a total of 14 pitchers in this game seven by each side.
Tomas Solis (1-0) pitched the top of the 11th to get the win while Luis De La O (1-1) gave up a run on a walk, 2 hit batters and a hit in the bottom of the 11th to take the loss.
Cheslor Cuthbert scored the Yaquis 1st run in the 2nd inning on a throwing error by the Charros second Baseman for the early 1-0 Yaquis lead.
Jalisco tied the game in the 4th on walks to Manny Rodriguez and Japhet Amador and a single by Dariel Alvarez that scored Rodriguez from second.
The game came down to this. The Charros reliever, Luis De La O, gave up a single to Tomo Otosaka, who went to second on a sacrifice bunt. Jesus Valdez was intentionally walked and Cuthbert was hit by a pitch to load the bases with 1 out. A pop up to third for the second out brought Jose Aguilar to the plate. De La O hit Aguilar with a pitch to force in Otosaka with the winning run.
The Charros fell to 6-5 on the year with the Yaquis improving to 5-6.

Aguilas de Mexicali Make Roster Move
LET GO EXTRANJERO PITCHER SCOTT McGOUGH
I'm rather curious about the timing on this move...or maybe not. McGough was the reliever brought in by the Aguilas on Wednesday night to pitch the 9th inning against the Caneros de Los Mochis. To say the least, McGough wasn't effective. He gave up 2 runs on 3 hits that allowed the Caneros to tie the game at 4 runs apiece. The next reliever, Adrian Martinez gave up 2 runs on 3 hits in the 10th as the Caneros came from behind to win the game.
The Aguilas deactivated McGough leaving the possibility of return to the team by 11/1.
In addition, the Aguilas activated Catcher Jibran Castro to fill the roster spot.
I do not see the Aguilas releasing Adrian Martinez in the near future.
The Aguilas also announced that DH/OF Nick Evans will be replaced by P Colin Evans. Evans was batting just .067 (1 for 15) with no home runs and no RBIs in 5 games.

Avila got Ricardo Serrano to fly out to center to end the game and preserve the win for Los Mochis.

Obregon Needs 14 Innings to Defeat Charros de Jalisco 1-0
OBREGON WINS THEIR FIRST GAME UNDER NEW MANAGER SERGIO GASTELUM
The Yaquis went 24 innings without scoring a run but when the did finally score in the bottom of the 14th inning on Wednesday it produced a 1-0 win over the Charros. Last night's game was the 2nd consecutive 1-0 games between these teams.
The teams sent a total of 15 pitchers to the mound during the game, 9 by the Charros and 6 for the Yaquis.
Tomo Otosaka doubled to lead off the bottom of the 14th for Obregon and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by John Nogowski. Humberto Castellanos was intentionally walked to set up a potential double play. Cheslor Cuthbert foiled those plans by tapping a slow roller down the third base line. The throw to the plate was too late as Otosaka scored the winning run and ending the 4 hour and 36 minute game with the Yaquis win.
Both pitching staffs have been very good over the last 2 games, from starters to relievers they have allowed just 2 runs in 18 innings.
The crowds for these games have not been large, about 3,300 per game, but if you like close, low scoring games, Nuevo Estadio Yaquis has been the place to be.
These two teams meet again on Thursday the 25th of October for the rubber match of the series with Jalisco at 6-4 on the season and the Yaquis with a 4-6 record.

Jalisco Shutsout Obregon 1-0
WILLIAM OLIVER TOSSES 3 HITTER THROUGH 8 INNINGS
It's not often one can talk about a pitchers duel in the LMP, mostly because the managers change pitchers so often, but Jalisco's 1-0 win in Obregon was just that. William Oliver (2-0) pitched 8 masterful innings allowing 3 hits, all singles, before handing the ball to Grant Sides who earned his 4th save of the season.
Arturo Lopez, the Yaquis starter, matched Oliver pitch for pitch through 5 complete innings giving up 1 hit, a single, no runs and striking out 5 before being removed. The manager of the Yaquis obviously had his reasons for changing pitchers but Lopez was pitching great baseball.
Brandon Brennan (0-2) pitched the top of the 9th for Obregon giving up the lone run and taking the loss.
The Charros were held to 4 hits on the night but none bigger then their only extra base hit, a double by Kevin Medrano to lead off the top of the 9th. The next batter, Daniel Carbonell popped up the second for the 1st out. Medrano stole third setting up the best scoring opportunity Jalisco had all game. Amadeo Zazueta hit a fly ball sac fly to left that scored Medrano for the only run of the game and the Jalisco win.
Obregon did not get a runner in scoring position all game and 3 times the Yaquis runners were eliminated on double plays, one a strike'm out throw'm out DP/
Jalisco improved to 6-3 on the season with Obregon falling to 3-6
